nah in usa they kind of missed the focus on raw skill that happened in europe which led to newschool. It is probably because the european scene has lower pings (in general) that people are less hessitant to just jump in and focus on the fight.
Quite a lot of european subtop has this huge amount of aim / movement but they fail to utilize it in the best way. Imo the difference between oldschool and newschool is that oldschool learns how to play tactically first and aim after, while newschool learns how to aim first and think after.
That being said I don't think that rapha would be as angry as cooller about being pummeled as I think that rapha would also consider the gauntlet a valid weapon in some cases.

Reading the irc log cooller did seem immature but watching the vod where strenx says "take that" strenx isn't as innocent as some people think. On DM13 where strenx says "take that" after pummelling cooller three times, strenx knew cooller was frustrated and was basically asking for it. Cooller then frags strenx and says "suck that" and strenx responds saying how coollers lg is not good enough to suck that. To say cooller started the fight isn't right, cooller was just asking for him not to insult players during heated moments and strenx tries to act all innocent saying it's just a pummel, and don't be so offended by comments. You can't really blame cooller for losing his head on this one.

I think for cooller to rage after strenx makes a comment post-frag is silly. The amount of times cooller has purposefully tried to make strenx rage to have an advantage against him is numerous.

As the interview said, strenx hadn't eaten for 11 hours - during your 10th hour of no food and little rest, you tend to get wound up pretty easily if someone is obviously trying to get a reaction from you. Ofcourse strenx didn't act perfectly, but who's to blame him - I think cooller should try to show more respect when the matters (i.e. the duel) does not involve him.

Does everyone forget how cooller acted when he was younger? He was terribly arrogant and quite disrespectful. He still is, but now his ego is even bigger cause he thinks he's a superstar. I've always been a big fan, but jesus, he's such a baby. He should be mature enough to not let strenx get him going. It's like he's 16 years old again. I'm sorry, but being a 'legend of the game' doesn't really make him a superstar. it's a fucking video game lol. Do something to become a superstar in real life...

Strenx is right that they are both like the same. They are both pro whiners, and they are both great quake players.

the problem with being old in a video game is all the kids you have to deal with, its not about being arrogant and his personality, cooller is arrogant but that comes from the background and the family he comes from, in some parts of the world he must come off as obnoxious as hell just by the look of his face, and kids have way more energy "strenx", they are just a bad match from the get go, two completely different backgrounds, its like a french sissy and a russian gamer, the sissy left a comment and the russ got emotional, its disrespect in his country and not that he asks for it, its not comradeship and its intollerable in some parts in some countries, for example if a foreigner did that intentionally between a couple of "right" russians they would beat that guy to death for playing with them, you guys discuss but you need to understand a couple of things, everyone in russia have their place and worth by the ones who know them and they are nothing without it, and who is strenx to make it different for him, its like walking into a chinese mans house with your shoes on, in russia its super important for how people THINK about you, they are under alot of preassure and its one of the main reasons they are doing so bad globally, only people who break out of russia are big dominant males doing crimes to liberate themselfs with money, they live by old routines and standards which they cant mentally break, hard morals who some of the strongest people in the world have built, he did not like him in the first place, and its not about that pummel, his thought of being superstar, or his arrogance. in russia strenx would get a beating and i think strenx knows it. at least i think thats what cooller tried to tell him.

the even more disrespectful thing strenx did was not to acknowledge and approve that he disrespected him, its like unapproval from his side, but thats just strenx, its just a game. he could have just said OK i understand you and they would be better friends, but the hotshot strenx did not approve, his fame is on the line, his beauty and presence too big and he quits duel, i actually thought he was going to cry.

for real, if it was my teammate i had a particular history with i would certainly not be even letting any snide remarks go, for the sake of the team.

maybe AFTER they've won something and built some comradery but its like the guy above me says, it means something completely different to cooller than it did to strenx and thats what pissed him off, he refused to understand and be cool about it, as if he thinks his skill somehow sets him apart from any other past mid-20 year old in their prime.

I don't know, i've always used the knife in urban terror (ok it's a different game) I just know that reactions of the opposite player will be to often panic a bit, or a lot; And it's a real effective weapon in close range. I've been insulted so many times for that. Also i've never said "take that", But this rivalry looks old.
