So, I see they've given up on the small sized, low(er) priced mice with a good sensor.

My 2 cents:

I bought a really expensive keyboard. 200 euros or just below. My reasoning is that I would probably, during the next ten years, pay 20 euros at least per year or 18 months for a shitty one that would break. This way I can have an excellent experience and have this keyboard for 10 years (and Im guessing more).

I would easily pay for a high quality mouse that works perfectly (including ofc tracking - no pred - no skip - no neg/pos acc) and have great service for it IF something ever happened with it. Logitech probably has among the best servicedesks in the business.

Im not gonna get this mouse, but I just think its worth if its high quality which Im guessing it is. Remember you dont only pay for it to last a lot longer but also have a great experience while it lasts.

I've always been a big fan of the mx300, mx310. I tried the 518 years ago and didn't care for it that much. Just seems like Logitech doesn't care about the small, midrange mouse anymore.

As far as price goes, I don't necessarily mind paying extra or top dollar for quality if it's worth it. However, in the mouse industry a higher price usually doesn't mean higher quality. At least for fps gaming. But something like a keyboard, monitor, or nice PSU, it's pretty clear in many cases you get what you pay for.

Agreed, although I probably wouldn't trust any company to sell us a so called flawless mouse at a much price range when we've experienced good if not great mice at less than $50 a pop.

We all know it's possible for a company like Logitech to build us high quality mice with good sensors and no stupid shit, but we're a niche market when the rest of the world thinks "5700 + DPI " and "Laser" means a mouse is good and better than our "only 400-3.6k DPI" opticals.

Hell, check out how they market their best mouse on amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Optical-Gaming...B0055QZ216

It's retarded IMO.

As for prediction, dunno. I'll go ahead and assume it's a custom sensor based off the new ADNS-3050 (2000 CPI max).

In case anyone missed it, this is Logitech's official excuse for moving the sensor down and to the side....

"I can say that it is located where it is to accommodate the light pipe for the profile indicator areas. This was a design decision made to ensure that the profile indicator areas were illuminated as consistently and evenly as possible. The RGB LED that drives the indicator lighting is centered, and the light pipe that it feeds takes up a large portion of the inside of the mouse. "

So instead of centering the sensor and using two seperate LED's on each side of the mouse they decide to center a single LED and throw the sensor to a corner...

Fucking. Retarded.

The positioning of the g9x sensor works for me though, it's centered and right under the indexfinger, they have the same reason for that placement?

Center / off center sensor positions works well (G9x).
Even sensor at front works much better actually I like it better at front as I get more control on aim (g500)

But if sensor position at back or behind center it gets worse to aim. Like MS Habu and CM spawn sensor is also little to back which gets very long time to get used too.

If they could fitted sensor to the side like G9x/ G5/ Kova+ it was worth buying it. But at the corner back its a big problem.

By Denmark McFly  - Reply to #27
Exactly.

A non-centered sensor is not really a problem, as long as its to the left or to the right.

The problem starts when the sensor is moved back/down.
This means the mouse won't be as sensitive when swaying the mouse with your wrist (which I do a lot).
To compensate, you have to increase your sensitivity, which leads to less accuracy overall.

@McFly

agree.

Tested it personally with the MS Comfort Mouse 4500, I had to raise sens to an insane level (from less than 2 to more than 3 in QL).

I spent days wondering what the fuck was causing that, and I was unsure between Sensor placement or polling rate limited to 125 hz...

But I think you're right and it's a question of sensor placemente, cause I've no other mouse with center sensor position having the same issues.

I bought the logitech g300 to have a personal opinion about it.

I found that it it jitters a lot in the Steelseries SX and Icemat I-2 mouse pad and it's completely unusable.

On the other hand it tracks flawlessly on a Sharkoon cloth pad and on the Razer Mantis control even at slower speeds. The lift off distance is pretty good. Prediction is very low or totally absent.

Moreover I think that it has a good shape but a very bad mouse wheel with the steps barely perceptibles.

I also have G300 it has very good tracking on 450dpi on my qck+; even tho sensors default dpi increments are 250 or 500 I think.

Its one of my fav mouse I think I like it more than Kinzuadder because of balanced weight and extra buttons to bind :)

Shape is not too bad its personal pref really and sensor position doesn't make mouse tracking worse. Only take a day to get used to.

I did cut one but it didn't fit well or something went wrong that buttons couldn't press well. It was balanced but something didn't match up so I used another shell. Its fine now with DA's switches.
But I feel G300 is nicer and has little better tracking and shape is also kinda nice for my taste.
I have both mice plugged in on my pc but I am using G300 from 3 - 4 weeks now and haven't touched kinzuadder since :P

I have no problems with off centre sensors. Currently using g9x and before that I had G400 and CM Storm Spawn. I feel no difference between g400(centre) and g9x/Spawn (off centre). People complain about everything :D

BTW what is the best dpi setting? Does the mouse behave differently at 2500dpi and say 1800dpi? I always use 1800dpi on desktop and in games. Thanks

Sensors default dpi incriments are 250 / 500 / 750 / 1000 etc

It works fine with drivers installed.
I use 450 DPI steps with drivers and feel not much difference between native dpi 500 vs 450 dpi when drivers are installed.

You might find tracking weird if you don't install drivers but when you get used to it you will love it.

Little amount of prediction that's all. You wont feel anything in game.

Drivers are little bit funny they sometimes remap keys twice I dont know why but then you have to change mode with G8 key to correct that problem. Just leave G8 and G9 keys are on default and you are good to go.
You will see what I mean when you will have the mouse.

I just got this mouse and its really good except 2000dpi is like 1700dpi on g9x, g400 or any other "normal" mouse.

Anyone else have this issue with the mouse? Its not really a problem it just means I can't use this site to calculate sens. http://www.notalent.org/sensitivity/sensitivity.htm

EDIT: OK so when I click on "Automatic Game detection" in drivers I get more options and sens. now feels normal like it should. weird

You' right, they really need to fix drivers.

Basically it only works at 1500dpi or 2250dpi. 1500dpi is 1500dpi. Anything above is 2250. So 1600, 1700, 1800 etc. is actually 2250. Meh using 1500 now.

I just received this G300 from Amazon.it and it's awesome (for me):

-balanced weight (I prefer light mice, and this one it's not too heavy and not too light)
-nice and comfy shape (I prefer WMO-style mice: not too smal, not too large and ambidextrous shape)
-without software, the mouse remember your last DPI choice even after disconnection and reconnection to the computer (and that's nice, I used to hate the fact that I had to reset DPI on the MX518 at every reboot).
I'm currently using it at 500 dpi to keep it the most similar possibile to my desktop sensitivity (~20cm/360 in game)
-awesome sensor (with Enotus, I was able to make it track up to 2.90 m/s)
PS: sensor placement on the left it's not a problem at all
-default polling rate to 1000hz (I definitely enjoy the fact of not having to install HIDUSBF)
-nice cord (thin, long, and looks long-lasting)
-I like the aesthetic (shape, leds, etc)
-last but not least: I got used to it in a few minutes, usually it can take hours (probably cause, it isn't much different from the WMO as shape/weight)

Definitely the best mouse I ever used for Quake, I put the WMO just after that, and the MX518 third (too bulky, some kind of circle strafe and vertical aims are much harder with such a big and never clawable mouse)
