why you care? We all know 20-30 euro skilled duel players nicks. this is just for noobs, who entered game first time.

why I care? because when it says challenging I actually expect it to be challenging :D

i entered a server (skillevel 35 at that moment)
it was very difficult with a player i knew i could take him
server skillevel was at 54.
so i beat him and my skillevel went from 35 to 61...

So if you beat a better player your skill level goes sky high.
(doesn't matter is he quits or just loses)

it happend to me too, server was saying very difficult and i won 38-1..., but i guess it was my skill level lower than it should have been.

I think it is somewhat reliable only after you play consistently for some time. Any prolonged break or win against a pro (like he quits) will make it go nuts. After UGC my skill level skyrocketed, and it took me some losses to get back to where I belong.

btw: when i started a few months back with duel i had the feeling the skill-system calculations were more accurate but now everything seems to fked up. but w/e.

its not all bad. if u only play people in the same skillrating as urself its gonna be fine, but if u lose/win vs someone with less/higher skillrating points its gonna get ugly.

in other words, if people sticked with skilled match (green servers) it would be 100% foolproof

the major problem with skill matching is that it is so sensitive to result of individual matches, I think someone messed up the weightage used on past record of a player when giving him a skill rating, or maybe does not even use it. Whenever I beat someone of my skill with good win/loss ratio, it seems to boost my skill so high that I am matched with pros and then if I lose a single match to someone of my skill level / slightly higher it just dumps me down so hard that people of my skill/ same level are ranked "more challenging". Ideally this should not happen.

it doesn't work, that's the point.

the devs have it weighted by points. The more points you have at the end of a game, the higher your sv rating goes. It should instead be based on frag count, something which would not only restrict slummers from pwning noobs (since they'd move up the moment they do) but it would also stop cheaters who end up in high tiers and actually get their asses handed to them.

only issue left is alt accounts. Then again, id still hasn't done what i just wrote and continue to skillmatch based on points..... which every slummer knows, hence why you never see guys like herc01 etc going for flag...

i noticed a bug with the skillrating, if players quit midgame its counted as a loss. ive seen my skillrating drop from 60 to 35 even tho i havent lost any games.

I seem to think that skillrating depends more on who you play rather than whether or not/by how much you win/lose. Or at least that is my empirical conclusion.

dont get all the whine, sure it can be tweaked, but when i play on green servers its challenging game 90% of the time and thats way better than getting on a random pub like we used to

don't get it either. It doesn't work and is heavily flawed. We know that from ages ago. There is nothing for discussion and still ppl bring this subject up (like they suddenly discovered it). It is broken, move on and make the best of it as it is.

I dont know any of the people I play against theese days, and they are all skillmatched.

there is no skillmatching system in ql, you've all been had if you think there is. It was all a ploy to get you from q3 to ql. But it was only meant to work with a big enough playerbase, something you all know (should ) will never happen now, hence: no skillmatching system will ever work properly in quake live (so long as it is implemented as it stands now).
