Event: JeeSports

You probably know JeeSports because of the last news here (JeeSports Open QL 1v1 Cup #1).

This time this news is for another FastFPS which is UT2004. JeeSports will host 2 duel cups every months (1 cup every 2 weeks) with 100� cash prize for the winner!

The date, rules and map-pool will be release soon, so stay tuned !

JESUS! UT 2k4 really gets some support and activity lately... Perhaps I really should switch games, the weapons in UT are kind of more fun I think, but the somewhat spastic movement really bothers me.

Even if I wanted to play UT2400, I am cba to install anything or even manually download something from torrent. From now on, I am playing only browser games. How can people play games that require such cumbersome process to be initialized?

When you install a game it only takes you some minutes and you don't have to do anything else later to make it works (maybe 1 or 2 patches but that's all).
By playing Browser games (QuakeLive for example) you will have to update the game and pay ~20� per year to have access to all content. UT2004 costs only 5�.
Anyway, everyone has his own POV about this :p

I think you're way exagerating. Millions of people have to dl patches or games. Digital Distribution is the future and you can easily buy and dl 2k4 straight off Steam and have it up and going in less than a few minutes after you install it.

Actually you don't even have to do anything; by the game via Steam and it'll be installed with latest patch included, then join any server you want since the game has awesome automatic mutators' download system which works like a charm.
However, if you take a look at http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=2049669#pid2049669 you'll see that this person was just trying to troll, desperately.

That is part of utcomp mutator, which is obligatory for all duel servers. So yes, you can, it will download automaticaly when you try to connect to any sever which has it on.

QL must be installed to your PC as well as UT2004. It does not matter where you run the installation from.

It's a one click process, I don't have to insert any DVD's (forget about Steam version, because Steam itself requires installation), there is no huge installation program that thinks it's the most important program in the world and takes my whole screen for itself, etc, etc.

My only experience with ut2k4 was back then when my cousin got it on his pc and I could play it online and I really loved it. I'll try to get ut2k4 and to kick some arse ;)
