osp tdm scoreboard pls.

cool things about it (and the cpma one aswell for that matter) were the big ass scores, avg team ping and the personal stats below the main scoreboard, would be cool to get those things into ql... but overall it was quite ugly

Agreed, it was useful but repulsive. I like the QL scoreboards a lot more. Hopefully this image of yours will be a good incentive, I know that id stated in one of the blogs that duelling scoreboard is the first in the series of new scoreboards.

this is a very hard thing to do and it would cost around 2M USD and around 14 to 16 months.

Id software ql dev team standards of course, and these guys are the fastest in the industry as everyone knows.

and we all know teams consist of 2 people and no more.

it just needs the good old OSP /scores

dont think the actual ingame scoreboard needs that much info, just a very detailed end report at the end of the game, team summary and personal pickups, that would add a lot to end of round discussion who did well/etc

that much info? my mockup is keeping it really simple, isnt it?

replaced frags/death with net frags and added net dmg
added flags, cause its interesting and always looks nice
(all that is already in the game anyway and just need to be displayed)
and there is one line showing item and powerup control
on top of that i removed the scroll bar that is not needed for 4 player teams to get some mroe space

no number spamming, its still clearly laid out

but i agree, there is a lot to be desired for post match stats on the ql site

In OSP, didn't they call it Efficiency or something when they Avg'd the two together?

Seriously?

NetF shows whether a player has more frags or more deaths (plus teamkills probably).

So if a player frags 50 enemies but gets fragged 55 times, he has NetF -5.

I think it is:
Score = Frags - teamkills
NetF = Frags - teamkills - deaths

Although I'm not 100% sure if teamkills are part of the NetF calculation.



NetD doesn't _really_ relate to the score, it's just damage given minus damage taken. [possibly the calculation is broken, though.]

yes I understand that part, I was confused by the pic cause the NetF and NetD didn't relate to their scores at all.

But in old school osp tdm there was an Efficiency score as well. I never understood how that worked.

in the shopped pic, the score/netf/pings etc from one team are copied over to the other team, that's why it probably looks weird.

It shouldnt display the items or damage, cause you could watch the scoreboard and see when certain items were taken or how much damage you did.
I'd like to have those infos in the match stats, though.

Yeah agreed on the monitoring of certain scoreboard elements during a game, however it would definitely be a good scoreboard for the end of a game.

avg team pings are a must :< it's essential for any organized team games, why id why???

its like that on duel, you can only see the other teams item pickups at the end of the game, but you can look at your own during the game

If the scoreboard only updates every few seconds, or doesn't have a clock incorporated, then the benefits of showing pickups (ie it being cool) is greater than any potential disadvantage.

Damage done is already shown in duel, and it obviously has a lot more potential to be useful there, so I don't think that should be excluded either.

and make it only for premium users !

Looks good, I'd drop the NetD and just keep deaths, change Netf to just Net, add average team ping somewhere on there and its good to go.

and yea, Avg Pings for teams are a must.
also, an Overall Box showing the constant difference between the two teams would also be nice.

I remember you were a pretty damn good ctf player, back in the day.

I still love ctf :) and I still do my best to win but obviously competing for real is over for me, don't have the time or playing conditions anymore.

I presume id would use a similar frame as used in the duel scoreboard for continuity, perhaps not.

Either way, props for the taking the time to make this and at least get the community talking about it :-)

I dunno about including net damage, it seems more like info you'd check after the game (maybe through console).
Also it makes the scoreboard look a bit cluttered.

i dont know, big part of expecting it to be in the console is based on habit more than anything.
its just something you always wanna have a look at, to me it makes sense to have such tdm fundamental info in the scoreboard

Would give casters some insight in who's doing most damage so far and who to follow f.e.

Maybe adjusting the aligning of those numbers to left would make it look a little less messy.

Not very compelling... Should be in the same style as the duel scoreboard.

The abbreviations NetF and NetD are unpronounceable and need to disappear forever.

Team scores in giant red and blue don't look very good. Should be in white instead. Obviously "Red Team" and "Blue Team" should be replaced with properly formatted clan names. Scoreboard would look better if the team names were separated by more space too.

As others said, Net, Frags, Deaths, Ping like in OSP is probably ideal. Country flags for each player isn't terrible but starts looking messy. If there are going to be flags then perhaps just one flag for each team? Would either be chosen on the clan page or be the country flag of the clan leader.

Ping could maybe have the average ping range for the team below it. Not as useful as in duel though. Ping range is I guess just plus and minus the average standard deviation.

Item pickup display by showing icons is a neat idea. Don't need to show multiple yellows, that's overcomplicated. Total damage done might as well be added too. It's cool, after all.

For the sake of consistency with the duel scoreboard, and also because it's neat, there should be additional space below the current scoreboard that shows all the same individual player stats that the duel scoreboard does. That way you wouldn't need to bind +acc too. Checking out other player's weapon stats can wait until the game ends, so that part should just be left to the website like it is currently.

agreed on most actually, was not a very thought out thing, was just annoyed again that nothing happened with the tdm scoreboard for so long now and decided to draw something to show how simple it would be to do these small changes and how much better it gets

nah its for the selected player, as it used to be... just kept that panel, bit it should be replaced with full personal stats if you ask me

ye, as you can see @ my last reply, I broke my head over that at 4:00 am

one of the possibilities from my pov was: opening/overlaying personal stats - accuracies etc @ the enemy team scoreboard part when clicking on an individual player. but I thought you'd want to keep the team-scoreboard as you always want to have the team-"comparison" in the middle of the focus

so the only possibility for me now is to enlarge and improve the personal bar if you want in-detail-personal stats/scores

I meant would it be a bad idea to show each teams best weapon and here is another thought what about teams most controlled weapon?

perhaps score and avg ping should be added to score table header? with a wider header "bar". Could be more like the duel one that way, with score next to clan name.
