is it cable all the way or wireless either from your house to them or somewhere inside your house. could be interference in the signal from like microwave or a big antenna somewhere close.

Maybe something to do with the wiring in your building/apartment complex. I have a similar issue with my cable. Even paying an additional fee per month to get the premium/privileged cable makes little difference and from what I understand it's the wiring of the apartment complex that screws everything up.

do you get disconnects in tcp based applications aswell?

I moved to plusnet (adsl, pro package) after nildram performance become intolerable. I've had no serious issues.

96% packet loss does not indicate a problem with the entire ISP, it means something with your connection (most likely in your building/street/exchange) is truly fucked.

connection settings will make any adaptor alot faster, they are the p0rt global settings, diaup modem/isdn/adsl/dsl/cable/lan and cellphone, and make a improovement on

Settings make little to no difference. If your net is 'bad' (eg : the OP) they will pretty much do fuck all. They may affect your speed somewhat but that's it. And those settings only affect TCP, it won't even make any difference in Quake (UDP) and most other games.
And I've been messing with those settings for ages. AFAIK MTU 510 is not recommended at all (I always read 1492 for PPoE or 1500 for PPoA).

What really matters is how far you are from the DSLAM, how much packet loss you got, how many people are using the same ISP in the area and how serious your ISP is.

i know its not recommended, and all recommended settings are bollox, my settings are global and they will make a difference if you use a app that works, which would be tweakmaster

and to make them work, you have to restart your whole PC, not just log off and back on

if you reinstall windows, first things first, apply settings to have a better connection without messing around

I know about the restart and I already have an app that works. The only thing it did was reduce my speeds a bit. Your settings are good for a dial up maybe, but not for an halfway decent ADSL/cable connection.

And what I meant is that your settings are only gonna help if the problem is on your side (crap pc/modem w/e) not if it's the connection itself that's fecked. Which is the case most of the time sadly :(

settings make all connections better, if you have more then 2mb a/dsl you just have to up the RWIN : 14719 * 2+ to make your downloads peak

MTU 510 will make dns lookup instant on any connection, but for some cellphones 210 make dns lookup like a normal connection,

cellphone downloads will be 45->55kbs, uploads will be 6.5kbs on FTP needing a socks5 proxy on most telecoms like tmobile, normal domestic dsl will be peaking too

lol your settings make my 100mb downloads peak at 6mb instead of 80, upload is worse as well.

French ISPs do. It's not true FTTH it's FTTLA so basically you don't get the full advertised speed if there are some other guys using the same ISP in your street.

shouldnt never stick to the book, connection recommendations are 20years old, and never been updated in any application
