Exactly because CA is easy and doesn't require too much skills, CA competitions are most fun because almost everyone can participate and enjoy.
Now pls tell me why do you think that the only people who are allowed to have fun are those "elitist" quakers who only play hard complex modes.

i played ca in ql as it was the easiest gametype to pick up and play and didn't need any dedication in order to be good at it :D it's far easier to get good in ca in a short space of time than duel, so was more appealing to me as a new player :)
after typing this i've realised it doesn't address your question at all :D

CA is a teamgame, most people on pubs don't realize it :x
I used to play ca in the beginning. You can improve your aim, movement and dodging way quicker than for example in duel. At least I had a base I could build on :D

That doesn't actually mean anything. As far as anything is concerned it could mean that he is the first to switch to a losing team where cranky players start to drop out.

Personally I pretty much suck at CA. It's pretty much all about aim. If I mnage to survive to the final players I can sometimes shine at it though as it then opens up to a more tactical game play.

But that rarely happens as I usually get run over by a pack of football helmets with aim bot like accuracies. :p

CA isn't so much a mode where one person can make a difference. If the rest of your team are clueless then you're going to loose no matter how many clutch rounds you pull out your ass.

but tbh it's not really different in ctf/tdm, both are TEAM gametypes =).

but when you play CA with the wrong team, it's even worst than tdm/ctf, really a pain to play tbh.

but if you play with the right team, with people you like, when everyone plays as a team, then it can be really fun, trust me.

but tbh that's why i enjoy CA 1on1 more than team CA, i mean, it's really hard to get the "perfect" team in CA, i mean, a team in which you would feel at least 90% comfortable and where every single m8 would play for the TEAM, and not for his own score.

btw, sure CA is an easy gametype to get in, i mean, it's really easy to understand, and even if your not that good, you'll still manage to do good @ pub servers, as long as you don't play only with opponens 325252x better than you. so yeah, basically, every decent quake player will do good in CA, even in clanwars if his team knows the basics. but when you start to play against a real good CA team @ 4on4/5on5 (not talking about 2on2/3on3 here, only 4on4+), then you realize that CA isn't only about spam & +back rail
and that it definitely requieres SKILL to be at the top.

what a crap mappool btw (overall). I mean almostlost is crap for CA same for campgrounds. the only decent/good CA 2on2 maps are thunderstruck (ofc), hellgatesredux & asylum. this game still lacks some good small CA maps :/

anyways i don't even care, i'm the thundertruck king of the hill. I'm the best CA 1on1 player ever, i don't fear anyone, you're all wannabes duel pros.

Campgrounds and Almost Lost were added as most popular CA/TDM maps in this country. There is no normal CA here, so we wanted to start with something familiar, and it actually worked - a lot of serious TDM players signed up.
However, we could never imagine ~75% of games would be played on those maps, and there were like 3 (!) Thunderstruck games. Will try to change this :(

this and the fact that we have tiers and matchmaking are actually pretty good arguments for everyone having winrates close to 50%, not 30% or 70%.

maybe cos ca is a team game so i can still loose having the best score + i used to play it in the morning while eating breakfasfst so... (not that im making excuses)
