Does this command exsist? id nerfed this with Quake II and it's been dog shit ever since. This is the biggest reason I, along with countless others, stick with Valve's Gold Source/Source engine.
Even Valve has the setting rather low(5/10?), I like 999(It defaults to the highest setting, unknown atm). They've got it locked, but their highest setting is fine for me (:
see it as cpm movement + offhand hook, which was implemented years before than cpm (this started as you saw it around 99-2000, before that was q2 lithium actually)
ok it does. See it as qw+double jumping+offhand hook then (it was easier to explain cpm like).
Actually it's not a big thing really because of the offhand hook itself (faster travel speed, immediate speed gain, etc.) and also because the strafe jump gets changed to another style due to airaccelerate (for example throw the hook so you get speed, then circle jump = different strafing style). In the end it's miles better.
getting mid is not that important really (besides getting quad) because even if it doesn't seem like that (thirdperson) the game was faster than pk, therefore you can just go the enemy base rather quickly without having issues at mid.
PainKiller has curving as I call it. You just press forward and turn your mouse to curve. It's different... PK had a bad base movement I think. I haven't played any since the first CPL one.
Quake/Half-Life are about strafe jumping. You strafe and turn to gain speed or curve in the air.
sv_airaccelerate is how much you can curve
Unreal Tournament does normal air control where you just move and that controls it. This is my least favorite. But it has dodging... But needs more air accel.
Airaccelerate on most old valve goldscr games is set to 10 and occasionally 100 but you won't really get higher then that usually. Never heard of 999 before
