I get it now, after I got used to it the weight in fact was all at the rear, even with the weight taken out.

So I would only recommend the shape for palm grip users.

It's true, I finally opened mine and it has this huge weight at the rear (it says "18g" on it). After removing it the mouse weighs ~80 grams and is much nicer to hold with fingertips only.

Yes A4tech have been good to gripers/clawers since ball mice.
Only thing I don't like shape wise is their "new".. "left click blocking & fingertip stabbing" 2xclick button.

How did you open your A4Tech mouse? I looked under all mouse feet of mine but there was only one screw to loose, and I still couldn't open it. I thought it was glued together but maybe I missed something.

The smell of the mouse vanished after 3 days.

I purchased the brightest cheap pad I could find, but that did not do the trick (at least a little better, but not good enough). Seems the only way to fix the pickup distance with this mouse out of package is to get a white only pad like the snowpad.

update 2:
I fixed the lift-off distance by taping nontransparent tape in front of the LED to dim it. The max. speed suffers slightly, but it was still at over 3 m/s for 400 dpi and over 2m/s for all other dpi so that's still v.good, with a lift-off distance of 2 CD's (2,5 mm).

There is a weight inside, kind of at the rear (see pic above), without it the mouse weighs 80 grams and feels nicer to use with any kind of grip.

Sounds like you're just retarded. I've never had an issue with a button placed there. I have my smile bound to MOUSE3 and different zoom fovs to up and down.

lol, never head that such a problem (I have also binds for wheel up/down and the button) but you can always open the mouse and remove the switch or cut the cable ;)

I was using different version of that mouse and I think it is impossible to hit that button while using scroll or any different way by mistake.
