There's this thing called a visa, without which foreigners can't get into the US. You remember how fox got shafted for this very reason back in 2006, having to fly back home right after he landed in Dallas? You don't, do you?

Anyways, this visa. It takes time to apply for it and receive it.

Austria is in the European Union. You don't need a real visa to get in, only a tourist visa which you don't need to apply or "wait days for". You fill it out while being on the airplane.

Yeah, you can't go one pleasure trips too much or they can just say you've been here enough. Saying business is no problem if you have a non US-based sponsor, which several CS teams I know used to say.

Noctis would beat Rapha. Not rape, but beat. Noctis, as far as my judgement goes, is the best quakelive player in the world at the minute.

The best overcome disadvantages: like being able to play your best at an event where the setups may not be as great as when you're at home without any distractions.
Or when your name is Johan Quick from Sweden and you're playing against fatal1ty on stage in NY and the entire crowd is routing against you.
The best prevail even despite the obstacles. Noctis has thus far buckled under such pressures. Rapha has not.

Maybe so, but we won't know until it happens. From watching actual play though and the way he thinks through the game from what I can gather from a demo and from his physical technique, Noctis is possibly the best quake player I've ever seen. He's suprising me now like Cooller did many years ago but possibly more so.
I'm a big Rapha fan, I thought he'd win Quakecon before it happened.
Lets just hope the next big LAN tourney yields "all" the big hitters :)

Noctis's style reminds me of FooKi from the little I've seen of Noctis.

Ok, Rapha won :) I still think Noctis looks the better player when it comes down to raw skill and strat/tactics. Rapha is the more complete player though, as a few of you have mentioned.
The games were "very" tight though! :)

I have a lot respect for noctis and I think he'll get there but at the moment rapha's got much better big game nerves and would most likely win.

good obs...noticed noctis' "in stereo" pg fire against draven on t9 also. He really knows how to perfectly see-saw the teleport and just cut his opponent down while taking minimal damage. Amazingly suited to this map...but what map is he not?

only saw that ca2 game so far, wow! can't get enough of that smooth style <3. Didn't expect he would control spartie this hard, he just couldn't do shit

quality play on ca2, hit like 70/80% rail? t4 was a bit more contested with some lil mistakes by noctis but still proved to be the better player. nice demos, cheers.
