i'm currently using PhpBB for a forum, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as I'm thinking of changing and interested in hearing peoples expereince with them in general.

phpBB is pretty nice, vBulletin isn't so bad either, ComplexityGaming.com implemented it pretty well into their site. It's nothing AMAZING, but it's decent.

If you just want a completely separate forum, with no article association with the site (like the coL site), then use phpBB. It has a shitload of support and features.

My vote is for phpBB.

Somehow I think you should be worrying more about the database you use, it needs to accommodate large amounts of data.
