ESWC Masters event in Cheonan, S. Korea (38 comments)

Event: ESWC'09

As revealed on scforall.com, over 200 gamers from 10 countries will attend an

ESWC Masters held in

Cheonan City between the 2nd and 5th of May.

The South Korean players will have to get through a qualification tournament to participate in this Masters while all the others will get invitations. The invitations announcement should be released during April.

Starcraft,

Warcraft 3,

Counter-Strike 1.6 and two unannounced Korean titles will be the themes of the tournaments, making it the first of many times you will see Starcraft, the greatest PC game ever, at an ESWC event.

Aside from the competitions, a festival will include an IT exhibition, international digital conferences and more.

SC should have as many events as possible (outside Korea) since it's the most skillful esports game ever.

ESWC would be perfect with Q3 + SC + CS.

I have completely no idea what's happening on the screen in WC3 when two armies face each other. I played the game quite much, not on a high level though, and still it's too fucking colorful for me. It's boring like hell as well, 15 vs 15 units + 2 heroes on each side and for 99% of the game no one dies.

CS + cast is good :) not Quake or SC level, but still more exciting than WC3.

indeed, it should be starcraft + cs + q3 forever
add 2 local, temporary titles for a year or two but keep these 3 - ongoing great competition, spectator-friendlyness, high skill level and everything that could possibly be needed (gtv, hltv, streams for sc are essential)

One of the local games will almost certainly be special front or special forces. It's a Korean made cs type game that 'borrowed' some animations/models/etc from the half life mod front line force.

There is no q3 scene in Korea. All they show on the gaming tv channels are SC/WC3, the occasional special force/front game, and once every blue moon cs will show up.
