I just watched all 3 of them.

Fist of all, Fat's movement sucks hardly. Honestly fox could teach him something about that, since he can move so smoothly and quite fast through the entire map. Jon also has a very aggressive and risky playstyle, like on those good old q3 days. He still remains effective, though. Moreover, he rushes his opponent like a mad cow when he has something like 150/150. Sometimes his aim is lacking, especially LG. Well, it is still nice to see games from his pov and I really think, that Fatty is still able to pull more out of this game. On the other hand, I doubt that he can compete with players like Toxic or Cooller with his current, sometimes too-offensive playstyle.

Wonder if his movement is affected by his mouse_accel?
Is Fat stuck in the past trying to recreate his Q3 glory when he needs to adapt to the new techniques and strategies since his absence? Not many people use mouse_accel anymore and his aim is no longer a dominant force.
I believe in Fat though, but hearing about him being careless with aggression is a bit strange. I had always believed him to be a very patient player. His psychological strength is his biggest asset.

I doubt he is going to play that aggressive against top 3 players such as toxic or cooller. They seem to move better, aim better and even act smarter in Quake 4 environment. And although I wish he could do better, the game is 99% aim, so yes, others will dominate the scene in a forseeable future.

Massively maybe not, but he would be able to attack much quicker, maybe more accurately and as I said, he's very offensive player, at least on those demos.

think he coulda beaten lost cause overall??

Well, it seemed like they are quite equal players, with that difference, that Fatty sucks on Phrantic (LC's map, he's good there), and LC sucks on Placebo (definitely Fatty's map). However these 3 games weren't like most of Cooller-Toxic games, that we're used to, with a lot of thinking and sneaking around each other; instead, more like rush, rush, rush (It looked tbh like a training games, not the grand final. But yeah, money was not that big as well). Yes, he had a chance to beat him. Only 2 frags of the second bo3 Moonson's game prevented him from a victory ;)

Every match I've seen of Fat he's always been crazy aggresive.

Better aggressive than +back railing homo like some people iykwim.

Playing to win or playing for the audience?

Kinda gay the game is so flawed the only style that surely grants a victory is back and rail.

I just got home and watched some of these.
I can not really say that fat played aggressive in a kind of stupid way, which is what I thought when I read the comments.

He did not hide, that is right, but he did play it the fatal1ty style, with which I mean, that he did just the right things in the right moment.

Don't forget that he came all the way from loser brackets, winning 2 maps from garpy and then even made it to the sixth map of the grand final, where he lost by a very small margin.

And he did not lose to someguy. LostCause is not a nobody.

Maybe it did not that spectacular as the fox demos, but I can say for sure, that you can see fats experience. He just manages to do the right move in the right time. Thats exactly what always made him so good.

Couldn't say that his movement or aim was particularly bad, either. It always can get better, but he is not that far away from other players like toxic or *insert-a-name-of-any-other-swede-here*. Well fox seems to be well ahead from watching him play. But you can't just judge from the look of a match.

So do I think fat can compete with the top?
Of course he can. He is just did so...

Fatality is normally known as a defensive player, but in quake 4 he is one of the most aggressive.
Dunno if he loses his mind after he gets killed, but watching these demos and seeing him rushing with mg after he got killed against lc with 100/100 many times, im really wondering why he is doing such "beginners mistakes". Yeah i know, u wanna keep ur opponement low and u should take the risk if u have a chance, but getting killed 5-6 times in 30 sec just because of aggressive gameplay is just the wrong way.
His brain game is definetly better then lc's, but that isnt so hard considering that lc is a almost a no-brainer who just plays much. What i was wondering is, that his aim is as "bad" as it was on the last tournaments. Look at the rail @ monsoon @ 6th map. He got sth like 18 % and lc had 45 % and he only lost by 2 frags.

Bottom line. He is definitely not as good as toxic, not aim wise, not brain wise and not movement wise.
But he got some experience and u can see it in the last 2-3 minutes. Even he plays aggressive the whole time, at the end when he doesnt have the lead, he plays a more intelligent aggressive gamestyle. That saved his ass on the first monsoon map and it already did many other times, for example @isc against clock.

I think some of you guys are morons. Until the top players play eachother in tournament games, analysis means nothing. Cooler and Toxic this and that. You are not in their minds, youa re not deciding what to do on the spot, and you probably don't have the experience. And you do not know what kind of systems and situation they were playing in meaning the comps could suck, they might not have been able to hear, etc. Fatal1ty and Lost Cause are top players, period. The match was extremely close and well played. Fatal1ty seeming sloppy means nothing. The guy has won in everything and if he chooses to be aggro then i'm sure he knows what he is doing and why.
And all of you dissing Quake 4 still, saying its all aim, you should try 1.3 version becuase it is much more balanced and fun. Q3 in tournaments is played similar in many ways, maybe slower, alot depends on the map of course. Back and rail is part of the gameS. Both of em.

fat/lc have played cooller/tox and other top players. sorry, but tox or cooller would beat fat and lc based on the performances in these demos.
