cool - I have a question for the Delta crew.

Are any steps being taken to get this mod active in competions? Right now GGL is Q4MAX, so everyones server is set for that. Thoughts?

I use skq4 and sometimes xfire

SKQ4 is a mIRC plug-in... and XFire just sucks. Anything else?

i use qtracker for everything.

Qtracker is fine... only thing i'm missing (might be me tho) is to select an ip and then copy&paste it in irc for others. How does that work? Connecting through Qtracker is fine but there's usually others on irc I'd like to give the ip :)

skq4 is probably the best q4 browser.

Any chance of fixing the export function as well so proper footage can be exported from Q4 and we don't have to use Fraps anymore?

I really hope hope this mod takes off in competition because there are some great competition features that some other mods dont offer and who doesnt like the grapple

Nice presentation, before I was curious if Sync/Lillie were just doing this for credit within the id software circle and community. From their knowledge they are clear not. Some great ideas, hope this progresses.

Lifts suck. Bounce pads are much better for flow, pace and FUN.

Both have their place, which is why I have both in my map (each side has 2 jumppads and 1 lift).

I feel sad at having to + that when it should be blatantly obvious. :(

The crucial aspect to lifts is transit time: something that BP's can't provide at all, let alone with the degree of control available to lifts. Lifts also have the option of creating pursuit cover, which, again, BP's can't.

Horse for courses, but if anything BP's are the inferior mechanism overall simply because they're so one-dimensional.

jumppads are bad, unless made by jude who basically makes them like lift shafts

Jump pads need cover generally yes. Lifts take time to reset and therefore you cannot follow people up them so they break the flow in CTF, cpmctf2 has really taught me to dislike lifts, flag carriers disappear up them when you're without an RL and you have to wait for them to reset while grabbing a RG when someone else has just used it, over and over.

In 1v1 they're a bit meh, what use are they other than to sit by and disappear out of reach to waste some more precious seconds? TDM is probably the only place where they're OK and they just seem to favour running away, bounce pads create more funny, fast and entertaining combat situations.

Well i dunno about deltactf but in q2ctf all the lifts platforms covered just half of the lift shaft so you could still grapple up after the person who used the lift, you may wonder why put a lifted there or why didnt the flag runenr just grapple up? the lift sorta blocks the firing line so you could escape but didnt stop people chasing you

This is true although when grappling is the main method of movement then surely only new players use lifts or lifts are the only route to get where you're going which goes back to the idea of lifts making a player unchasable.

q2ctf was the most fun ctf mod ever, and it had lifts. People just stick to what they know.

is this same resolution and codec as the previous pq4 vids?

I wanted to hear about this shoutcaster mod because I was wondering if it will also be a GTV function. Yet another PQ4 movie cut off when the juicy stuff is coming. :( I know it you probably cant fit everything on your camera.

It was a long ass discussion panel. =) We probably ran twice as long as we had expected. The video doesn't include any of the dicussion about Delta's up & coming projects: DeltaMinor, DeltaCast and DeltaRevolution (working title).

When is delta coming out for 1.3 ?

Playing q3 online is still 50x better than playing q4 online somehow. Like when you get very close to your opponent it can take you like 2 seconds to figure out wth is going on (my pc specs are awesome).

Ive been trying to get used to q4 but i dont have lan mates and playing online with 60+ ping is just awfull when you compare it with q3 wich im USED to. Still cant see any good reason to play it over q3.

This mod is extremely cool though.

if u would have decent internet u wouldnt have had this problem. i play with ping 20 TOPS, i know the netcode sux ass compared to q3 BUT the pings seem lower with q4, on jolt servers (uk servers) ive got 35/40 ping with q3 and on the same host ive got 15/20 ping with q4.

Sorta skipped through this, too much chat not enough in-game action, the qw@et just did a better job

great info movie... delta ctf is a great mod and its really fast paced.. this mod makes u feel that u are playing quake... more players/delta ctf servers are needed...

alot of gamespeed related improvements of delta ctf and the female modles oc =)... should have been implemented into q4base...

would be really nice to see this type of gameplay for q4max.

if the whole ctf community made a push to take up delta ctf when it is final, we would have a really good ctf mod on our hands with community to match. It's just going to be so difficult to get people to give it a real go. The best way is to have a high profile online league or cup organised, and make it feel as if the cup has importance, like a eurocup.

I am looking for a ladder/league admin for a Delta run one. No worries of it disappearing or dropping, since it is our mod. ;)

We have lots of people that want to help, but we really need a main admin with a bunch of experience. We have people all over wanting to do this. So if anyone wants to help, drop me a line.

or ggl - TBH, I dont see a reason to play Delta if leagues use q4max

i'll play any ctf mod as long as i can camp on defense the whole time. i'm such a lazy >scumbag< :-)
