Wow.. a somewhat thoughtful post on ESR. Money is the means to an end (most of the time it shouldn't be), but most in America see it as simply an end. Based on my life experiences, money usually acts as a social barrier. There are those at my school who have tons of it and carry themselves in a manner that excludes people who don't have it. Money in America seems to define success (of course it should not). Our 4% of the world's population has 74% of the world's wealth. Based on that fact, you can see why we do the things we do in the world. *SIGH* That's dimishining though. So what's money? Money is different everywhere, but in it's simplest standard, money seems to be the thing that defines a comfortable lifestyle versus and uncomfortable lifestyle. (I use "comfortable" and "uncomfortable" in a very relative fashion)
