It's not the format's fault that it didn't matter. It's the poor tournament lineup's fault. Apply the same format to current Dreamhack, and it would pretty much matter. Why? Because he would face a stronger opponent from the 2nd seeding group in the quarters. And the current DHW lineup is so strong that every player from 5-8 seed could potentially beat any 1-4 seed.

A bunch of matches to look forward to, and that's just from the player perspective. Can't wait to see whats in store on the caster/downtime side of things.

On one hand I love that it's single elimination...player has to be on through the whole tourney to get to the end, but on the other hand double-elim would let so many more 'hype' matches happen.

I just hope the casting is Professional like the matches we will see in game. In recent years at these larger events I have seen quake commentaries end up becoming a comedic nightmare that gives the game an immature and irresponsible look to it. The build up to this event has been excellent, from the hype of Qcon and how well the it was delivered to the Quake community and the solid contributions of leagues and weekly cups by Faceit.com and 125FPS.

I think this is the spotlight for Quake to shine and be delivered to a much larger audience then it really has ever before. There is going to be a massive FPS Community watching alot of team and 1v1 games, between the likes of CS:GO and Quake Live.

There are Quake Players from all over the world coming to this event, I think that is amazing and rare. I always hear about the other games where it is dominated by mostly EU and Asian/Korean countries. This event for Quake is huge in its right that it has 32 players from 16 Countries. WOW!

So getting back to the streaming I hope that the people who are chosen to represent Quake are ones that support the community and who also want to see it grow. This game deserves to be the pinnacle of the 1v1 FPS genre again and this is the opportunity to showcase it.

+1 serious casting with fun/comedic elements thrown in, not the opposite.
