BenQ G2222HDL seems pretty good, my brother has one and it looks great. I'm not sure about input lag compared to a CRT but it's 1080p and I believe does 75hz.

hmm, what exactly do you mean with "looks nice"? cause i really dont have a focus on image quality, havent seen a monitor for the last 3-4 years where i thought "wow this looks bad" or "wow, what crisp colors", to me they all look fine ;)

its 5ms g2g and thats okay but not great, didnt find a really detailed technical test on google to judge, but reading something like "Senseye+Photo Image Technology"" sounds to me like crap that i dont need and produces input lag (but i actually dont know much about stuff like this)
did you play some games on it? does it feel good?

I'm using the monitor now, It only does 60hz at full res and
every mode is impractical due to it being way to bright apart from "ECO" mode were it's slightly dim but does the job.

If your just playing games for the lulz it's ok and does the job but if your playing duel it gets a bit annoying with the ghosting.

do u mean room in ur room (xD) or room on ur desk? i have a small desk too and what i did was put the desk diagonally across a corner of my room so the back of my crt has space to fit, so only the base circle actually sits on the desk. actually about 15% of the base is off the desk. im not really worried about it falling off cos the center of gravity is still on the desk and its very stable, and if it does tip it will tip into the corner which will prevent it from falling.

well my desk is in front of a wall so i cant do something like that, it would cost me like 50% of my desk space and i wouldnt even sit far away enough i guess :/
+ my room is kinda small and it would make the room feel even more "overfilled"

worst possible conditions i guess :D

I have no clue, it is just the most comfortable for me. So easy to aim compared to having both keyboard and mouse on the desk.

Not arguing (or being helpful, I apologize) but it always baffles me when I see so many people who "don't have room" for a CRT (which, oh, everyone had room for a couple of years ago).

Everyone move or something? Though you'd easily get a CRT in there if you really wanted...

well i would like to get a 24" screen cause i use it to watch tv aswell and i would like to not spend a lot of money...

and tbh i am fine with 75hz although it would undoubtably feel better with 120hz and i probably wouldnt wanna go back :D but really i use something like 8ms and 60hz atm and it doesnt feel bad (not perfect either but after using it for ~4/5 years i got used to it. and with 75hz and 2ms i am sure that it will be just fine.
and the 233rz has ~10ms input delay btw, wonder why this doesnt bother anyone

The measurements look pretty sketchy, and most players say that can't tell the difference between it and a CRT. I think that's good enough.

At the same time I have a very good 60hz lcd which supposedly has 0 input lag, but it's absolutely horrid to play on. But of course, anything running at 60hz will have 17ms lag between frames anyway.

Anyway, my CRT is dying, and I needed a replacement.

would so love to have like 4 monitors set up with my other hardware and play a match of quake on all of them. knowing how much technical differences translate to a difference in feel for me would make the decision a lot easier

and why do people keep saying 60hz? almost all modern monitors make 75hz in at least their native resolution, its a 20% increase afterall

im really low on money, otherwise i would prolly go for it. but right now i dont like spending more for a monitor thats only advantage is having more hz... and i dont kid myself, it would just be for quake, dont need it for anything else and i simply cant justify that atm

although i really have to see if i can find anything cheaper than that asus cause if not it would only be like 40€ that i could probably better save somewhere else

i went from 100hz crt to 120hz tft and was most impressed in terms of gaming performance. i used a 60hz tft before but not for gaming, so no idea, but my guess would be the difference is quite huge.

I just got my monitor, and WOW. 120hz at full screen, even in windows, is so awesome.Played quake, and there wasn't any noticeable lag, and my accuracies were a bit improved over my CRT, which could be screen size, but could also just be me being happy and having a good day. But yeah, it is comparable to my CRT, in fact better, since I have space again.

I have gone to using 60hz for a couple of weeks while i stay at my brother as my crt is too small for work, and during that time i play quake. I generally get used to it, but my lg acc isn't as good and doesn't increase. I also turn on textures and push up the res, as it makes it feel a bit smoother.

If you want more than 60hz in 1080p look here, it's a list of monitors that are confirmed to NOT skip frames (frameskipping is really bad):

But since you say that image quality and viewing angles don't matter much to you, I can but only suggest to get a 120hz one instead.

Don't worry too much about input lag btw, not many LCDs have some actually, 99% of the testing protocols are completely inefficient. Monitors with a scaler like those professional LCDs or TVs are almost the only ones who really do have input lag.

Id still say get a CRT. I dragged my (not huge) desk out from the wall and managed to fit 3 21 inch CRTs side by side - you should be able to do this with 1 and then push it back so you only have the stand of the monitor still on the desk. The weight is towards the front, so it won't topple off - I have been doing it for years.

The technologies are getting closer, but I can still notice ghosting on the LCDs and the CRT colours are nicer - from my experience working with Photoshop they are just a lot richer. This is not to bag on 120hz LCDs but when we are talking about sometimes 1/10th the price it is worth considering. I tried playing on a 75 hz LCD recently and it was interesting, but it was like a whole different gaming experience using over 100hz again.

yeah not 24" and not 1080p + according to the prad test its suited for casual gamers but nothing more because you can visually see some ghosting, 2ms g2g2 or not, and the input lag is ~20ms but has spikes that go up to 117ms. on top of that it creates quite a bit of noise. so if i go for a 120hz monitor i would rather pay a few bucks mroe and get a decent one ;)

i kinda trust a 10page long review from people who have been testing monitors for years more than your comment

i dont remember what they said about using that mode in the specific review but they are definitely aware of it and judging form the other 10+ review i read it usually doesn't change much anyway

Yes prad.de is very reliable but they may have been wrong/unlucky on rare occasions (like a bad batch of monitors or something). This one received great reviews everywhere else so it seems kinda suspicious (regarding the ghosting at least).

Doesn't matter anyway since you want 1080p and 24" :)

u can get 120hz 23" tft with less than 250€ so it should absolutely be your choice...
