QuakeWorld demos come in three formats:

.mvd - These are multiview demos recorded by the server. This is the best and most commonly used format for QW demos. Can be played with most newer clients, like ezQuake, FuhQuake or even MQWCL. Just start up the ezQuake client for example and then navigate through the menu: multiplayer -> demos -> look for your prefered demo and press enter to play.

.qwd - This is the standard QW demo format, recorded by the client and therefore only shows one POV. This type can be played with any QW client, either via the console (playdemo [demoname]) or in the main menu (Multiplayer > Demos).

.qwz - These are standard .qwd demos compressed with Qizmo to reduce filesize. You will need to have Qizmo installed and the variable "qizmo_dir" set to where Qizmo is located, e.g. "qizmo_dir qizmo" if it's in quake\qizmo (FuhQuake/MQWCL only).

Demos have to be put in the ..\qw\ directory.

If you don't have QuakeWorld installed or miss any file, you can download nQuake. This is a great installer that contains everything you need to play QuakeWorld, complete with documentation and everything!
