The one gripe that I can wholeheartedly agree with during SirScoots's largely misinformed rant about our coverage was that we did a very poor job of getting information to the viewers outside of Fishstix's twitter updates about the technical issues throughout the event. I also thank Scoots for acknowledging that the broadcast, when it was running, was great fun and we agree that QuakeCon 2010 produced some fantastic games of Quake.

I do take issue with the "QLTV bit off more than they could chew" comment, however. Had we been the primary crew planning the event for months prior, then his words would be exactly right. In that case, QLTV would have utterly failed to live up to its QuakeCon coverage promises. Instead, we were a crew that assumed it would be providing a secondary role and planned accordingly for nearly a year. Eleven days before the event we got asked to fill an enormous void left by Scoots’s very own LiveOnThree crew... a fascinating detail he left out of his rant. It seems he also didn’t consider how Lo3’s exodus from coverage days beforehand might impact the event’s coverage. To use Scoots's metaphor, we didn't bite off more than we could chew. More correctly, we got a 80 lb steak shoved down our throats with no time to chew it.

Scoots is also right that we'll get better with every event we do. We learned a great deal throughout the week and feel quite confident that, if we were part of the official planning from the beginning, or even had been given a few months of prep, we would have been much more up to the challenge.
