You could also replace the sensor. The FK1 uses the Avago 3310 and its PCB fits perfectly into the FK 2013. Testing one right now (with omron switches) So far the rate is much more stable. Guess it will work on more surfaces too. It also can adjust liftoff in 2 steps. Didn't test this yet though.

Qck+ is the most obvious recommendation

but it's not fast.

ok, i'm gonna add to this as i'm in a similar situation. it would be very helpful if anyone could post first-hand comparisons and or recommendations between any pairs of these surfaces:
- logitech g640
- zowie benq g-sr black
- allsop raindrop xl
- puretrak talent black
- qck heavy
- qpad uc50

or of course any other recommendations for pads with similar characteristics. :]

I have an Artisan Hien and it's pretty fast for a cloth pad. The Zowie G-SR is also supposed to be pretty fast, I've ordered one and it's due to come in the next few days. If nobody else currently owns it and has an opinion on it I'll post mine when it arrives.

The old QcK team pads were pretty fast too iirc, but the non-team editions are some of the slowest pads I've ever tried.

so did the G-SR come? How did it compare to the Hien and what do you use now

It came but i haven't really had much of a chance to use it yet, been too busy with exams. All I can say is it feels nice for desktop use, is aesthetically pleasing and seems to be relatively good quality, although no stitched edges so I can foresee frayed ends in the future. :p

I'll try and play with it properly this weekend.

Zowie G-TF Speed is pretty fast and doest seem to wear out at all. Also very easy to clean.

If you press your arm hard against it - it wears out in the middle after 3 months of 5-6 hours a day, 5 days a week playing.

i'm with abso on this one - took over 2 years to wear out my first G-TF Speed...the skates on my zowie EC1 wore out before the mousepad did. and it's pretty fast, but has a nice "controlled" glide to it.

I use this but be aware it's pretty much a plastic pad and will ruin the teflon on your mouse feet in a day. I'm waiting for G-SR pads to come in stock I hear they're good.

Artisan shiden - it's even faster and smoother than the hien, and doesn't seem to wear out ever either.

how long u been using the shiden?
my shidenkai is ~3.5 y/o still feels pretty good :D
if I buy a new one it'll be the white shiden

i use it since about 9 month now.
bought it 1,5 years ago, but couldn't get used to it at first, with only my wrist on the table tho. :)

yes, the shidenkai is even faster AFAIK.

they have the same surface material but the Kai has lower density and as such a lil bit faster glide.
