Its kind of sad that everyone tries to build a mappool based on the individual qualities of the maps and not considering a mappool as a "whole"

In my opinion, a good mappool isnt just 5 goods maps but 5 goods maps that complete each other. Let me explain :

DM13 is ultra old, kinda slow paced, favorises respawns frags, and has a MH/RA/2YA system, so you could think that its too close from ztn but there is a big difference, there's no rail on DM13.

Why having a map pool where's everymap has every weapon ? It doesnt make any sense.

T4 was also very interesting in this way because there is no shaft on it and the armor system was completly different from the other maps.

I agree with what was said by many pros even if I'm a "shit tier" player that news maps are needed. On olds maps, everyones now know where to fight, which weapon to fight with, how to go from A to B in the fastest possible way, etc etc.

Give some space for players creativity and a little less space for those who train thousands of hours to become complete robots. It doesnt mean that we cant keep the good ideas of the old maps. Let's have a no rail map, and a no shaft map aswell. I dont think there was ever a "no rox" map but that could also be discussed, as unquaky as it seems. Let's have fast paced and slow paced maps, lets have maps where you can stack 200/200 and others where its impossible, lets have maps not to much respawn-fraggy (only T7 has this criteria nowadays). If we don't, I strongly believe that the game will die very soon in a incapacity of attracting newcomers.

u must take in consideration that cyphers creativity allows him to completely shut down his opponent on a bad map and win every fight without items if needed

so i.e. i have more chance to frag cypher on ztn if i keep playing it over and over each day everyday for a year than on a bad map where hes gonna ninja every possible item or just spam rocket me to death cos there will be no place to hide or recover

veterans (this means avek, cooller, cypher, rapha and others) strenth doesnt come only from map knowledge

they jsut know the game very well and they adapt very fucking fast + we can here discuss that cypher has better aim over cooller or how raphas aim is bad

try playing rapha to see how bad his aim is.... gonna be like 100rail and 50 shaft and 60 rockets

i bet avek would throw 50 plasma to the equation

so what i wanna say is that no matter what map we get they re allways gonna have 10 years more experience than any newcommer

sorry but that's bullshit :P good players get beaten often on new maps by players that they would otherwise rape on an oldschool map. Just ask people like plazma.

it's pretty good for quake, but you can't compare those figures to SC2...

would be nice to seed the pro players like plazmaa, guard, agent (or even lower, such as fire-bot, amai, Reddgrrr) for sunday and do a onsite quaklive.com qualifier for all the nonames/amateurs on the previous day, so we nubs don't have to worry about being raped in round 1 and 2 over and over

if I had a good enough connection I'd signup every week as I did till July

still, with 120 players, and games lasting 15mins, the cup would still last 2.5 days with games playing nonstop
