no, its tricking your breathing reflexes.
either you breath pure oxygen befor you start diving, or you hyperventilate on purpose.
it doesnt really help you, your lungs still have the same capacity.
but there are these carbondioxide receptors somewhere, and when they detect to much co2, they will enable your breathing reflexes.
breathing pure oxygen or hyperventilating will make them react slower, so its not really healthy, its just tricking your body.

well, more importantly it oxygenates your blood, which is the whole reason we breathe in the first place. :P

the amount of complexity in some of the most simple of things is crazy, I knew it wasn't easy but the amount of effort, time and practice it requires is nuts

wish I would have kept them now, or at least not sold them as a shitty job lot :(
