Refinery by eXodus
Refinery Beta 2

A simple yet unique map design built for 3v3 or 4v4 CTF. An industrial theme is combined with the use of many colours.

Feedback:
Layout
Weapons

Spawns are not yet in place, just a base spawn on each side. This is the second beta version and there are a few texture bugs.

Updates Beta2:
Middle is redesigned, powerup area and stairs.
All the stairs have been adjusted making them less steep.
Lots of little details added or improved.

There are so many better maps to port...

It's interesting to think about, really. The game play is so different.
QL has really stiff and slow movement compared to TFC, but if you're given a long shot you can gain some good speed.

Bloodtube and Hellion I think would work.
What about Torch2 for some reverse CTF?

bloodtube would never work without concs, such a weird map.

altho removing the huge yard from monkey_l (or at least making it NOT a rail fest) would be amazing
just imagine playing T with an RL, RG, SG, and LG. mmmmm

Yea, the gap between bases is the most troublesome. Bloodtube would be interesting because of the tube itself I think. A Quake player could strafe jump from base to base pretty dang fast.

Ye i moved the file so it stopped workeing, fixed it now.

It's QL just put it in the baseq3 folder where all the other pk3's are.

That's a pretty nice small simple fast map, I would play it as it is. I'm not a big fan of stairs in QL though, because of the infamous stairsbug. I'll test it more deeply when I can.

What is this stairsbug about? It feels better to run up the stairs in QL than in Q3, it was easier to miss the jump and get to 320 ups in Q3. Or are you referring to splash damage?

The splash bug, yes.

My personal record is 3 in a row around the RA zone on t7. 0 dmg instead of ~250, very nice :>

I have been thinking of a redesign of the mid stairs area, and perhaps the entire middle section of the mid (pu). Even with the stairs damage bug I think it's still the best option, ramps don't look as nice and can fuck up movement. Jumppads are just too slow and make you too vulnerable.

That height is there to provide what little cover there is in the middle, however I've already made a few changes to the height of the ground floor and made adjustments to the ways of getting up easier. Thanks for your feedback!

Stairs are better.

You can get a bit stuck here, probably because of the ladder:
