From what I've heard the ETG admins are bunch of ignorant people. So this shouldn't be major news for them, since they so or so don't care about the comunity.

And as Seven told, it would be major if they could keep their 7-10 servers (massive network LOL) up for more then a week.

It's rather ignorant of you to degrade what seems like a rather massive DDOS attack to the doing of a scriptkiddie.... every day there's DoSing going on, and who can do what against it? No-one. This talk about feds (FBI etc.) is just for scaring people, especially young ones, not to do this, cause at one day they might be a fed knocking on your door.

But the truth is, that they don't get 99% of the DoSers.
There could be a DoS attack news every single day. But as I told, I don't do care much about those smaller IRC networks, since the damage is not that vital if we look at users and the population of the servers imo, not the damege to ETG. The user have always the option to change to a more populated networks. You'll say hey, but I want to be on ETG, yeah well then live with the DoS attacks. It's not so that QuakeNET doesn't have any DoS attacks, but QuakeNETs bigger and more reliable at least in my eyes.

And you can make 100 threads for the pricks witch DoS or 100 petitions, and what will you change nothing. There's still gonna be a prick hiding, and waiting for his chance to make the other users suffer.

So IMO this is not major news. I bet in the next week there will be another major DoS attack on ETG, and again and again, blowing words into the wind. And what will change, nothing.

I've been on the opressed side as you've told. I've even been DoSed directly (my ISP) for more then 50 times. And yet, there is nothing you can do but block it on the router wich means, you're cut of the world.

The only thing that would help to prevent DoS attacks, is to go back 10 years where all net was run on 9.800bps modems.

And as I told (hate repeating myself over and over) when IRCnet or any other bigger NET with a avg. of users connectet more then 50k would scare me a bit. but not if they DoS a net that hasn't even 16k users.

They should link up with GamesNET or QuakeNET IMO. Would be better for everyone.

And your example is not fitting in this topic anyway, since there is no true harm done to end-users of ETG. If I would chat on ETG, and have so recent outgages due to DoS attacks, I would change to a more reliable IRC network.

There is people DoSing right now as I write that, and it doesn't have to be an IRC network. As i told, they DoSed my ISP. And they are dosing some services right away. + they are DoSing QuakeNET, but since QuakeNET is bigger it hasn't such a massive impact on the end-user.

If you DoS a network with 7-10 servers or a network with 47-51 servers makes a big difference. And by all good means, it's the fact of nature, that the weak don't survive. So if this is going on like now, ETG wont be with us much longer. They should become part of bigger networks. or just blow away.

And it's sure more harm done to DoS an ISP with 200 users then a IRC network with 15.000 users, since the ISP priovides
you with your online needs wich you pay for, and for IRC you don't pay + you can adjust (jump onto another IRC network), wich you can't do with ISP (except you have 2 or more in reserve).
