Change your plans for this Wednesday evening: The SteelSeries Quake Live cup will be the first official cup held by the recently announced etourn website. A SteelSeries 5Hv2 worth €70 is up for grab with a knockout bracket ready for up to 128 participants. The cup was held Wednesday.

The only requirement is a legal Quake Live account and players with an standard account only are responsible to organize someone to invite them to the match in case their opponent does not want to invite them.

Apart from the weird phrasing, good rule.

duelcup this, duelcup that, duel, duel and some more duel, oh and why not another duel cup, orrr: a duel cup! No.. no.. i've got a great idea now: a duel cup.

Because [insert sponsor here ]enables players to be better in camp / spam / +back / calculate item respawn times / remember item respawn times / having patience

Maybe 15% of the QL population actually actively plays this gametype? Perhaps 3% plays it seriously?

Perhaps spend some attention to the giant collection of new players roaming around in CTF, CA and FFA. Let them participate in whatever sponsored cup, might motivate them and actually highlight some of these sponsors.

(and no i would not participate)

Maybe consider thinking about the point that it's easier to start with 1on1 than a team game on a new website. TDM is in scope and I'd love to organize some international tournament after our national 2on2 edition heavily failed. CA/CTF/FFA isn't near my scope atm :p

Don't know why this one time cup violated your toleration zone, there has been more and enough to rage about before :c WHY ME :(

well the vast majority of the "new players" wouldnt have a team for ctf or ca anyway, and an ffa tourney would be incredibly dull to watch!(personal preference, but what possibilites do we have with ql that'd make it a good spectator "sport"?)

Duel is the only gametype where you need skill and don't have to rely on teammates (CTF/TDM/CA) and is not like 1v1 CA where lower ping means victory. :)

I would guess the figure is probably closer to >1%. Approximately 40 hardcore duelers vs. ~6 thousand semi-active quakers world wide.

I agree with what you are saying, but there simply isn't enough money available to justify team based quake tournaments. Our player base is too small.

For the schedule and the detailed rules, ESReality is not the place where you should communicate with your players. This tournament is not affiliated with the website... If you add a link to the rules, everyone will be happy with it.

As for the schedule, I'm still not sure if you're using CET or CEST. You're the one being confusing here.

You major your own posts without proofreading and just making sure the time zone you're using is correct, you should know better.

I won't lie, strictly speaking from a spectator's POV, TDM is boring to watch. Duel and CTF are much more entertaining to spectate (for me, anyway). I love playing TDM and I think playing duels is boring, but spectating TDM is really boring for me. So I say more CTF!!! :D

I find TDM far more interesting to spec than duel, actually I only watch duel when there's a LAN event.

Headphones are used for other stuff than gaming. A bunch of mid-tier products could prolly easily compete with Steelseries on performance vs price, but my bet is that you havent researched the marked.

My guess is also that you know a bunch of other gamers and friends who have 5H and have recommended it over the same bunch of mediocre gaming headsets that populate the marked.

It's a good headset for a gaming headset yes. But preemptively awarding it as "the best headset in the world" is silly.

Ok, I think i've got it figured out... Wednesday at night, in the western hemisphere, means Wednesday in the morning. 10:00 is military time, which actually means 10:00 a.m..

The system where you just say, 'it'll be on in x amount of time' works pretty well.
