These new maps are sexual but as much as I like dm13, it probably could have been removed in favor of a new map

Battleforged, Dismemberment, Focal Point, Hektik, Phrantic and Aerowalk.
They could do a whole new pool if they wanted, either a few of these maps are unplayable (they seemed ok to me) or they want to change the set slowly.

ZTN needs to stay and T7 is pretty decent to stay in. I'd say Hektik or Phrantic replaces DM13

Hektik, Phrantic, Battlegrounds, T7, ZTN, Dismemberment, DM13, T9 and Focal Point are all maps I'd love to see played.

Hektik HAD potential, but now you can have RL, RA, and YA within a super small radius, plus positional advantage. Layout needs to change, or go back to the old one.

Phrantic with rail? It's been argued a lot to not have rail, and at one time it didn't, but at the last minute they put it back (THANKS NOCTIS) so Phrantic is shit. Even without rail, I can't see why we would replace any current map with Phrantic.

I think we should be getting rid of old maps first, then new maps. I grew on T9, I like it a lot more. Get rid of DM6 and ZTN first (imo), since DM6 is pretty bad and ZTN is extremely stale.

I'm not saying they should definitely be put in, but I think they all deserve a chance at some point, in zotac cups or something. All the complaints are opinion until they are given a chance.
It's a lot harder when we are about to enter a busy tournament session though.

Rapha fucking owns, his aim is getting a lot better, I think he dodges you first before he aims, which explains why his aim doesn't impress you but also explains why he doesn't seem to get destroyed in fights by cypher and other aim rapists.

It actually looked like he have improved. He was just playing some fantastic QL in all of the games except the group games against dahang, where he had nothing to play for.

Kinda seems weird that he would lose 1-2 to dahang and then crush him 3-0 in the final. I think chance deserved to be in the final alot more then dahang because dahang didnt play good. Chance was really on fire though.

But rapha looks better then even and i'm really looking forward to seeing his games at qcon now. I expect him to take QL to a new level there.

Just watched the finals vod. Rapha seems pretty hot on aero :D

First time i've seen high skilled players play aero on QL/Q3 and I must say it's pretty good. Thought it would be slow as hell compared to qw, but it's ok. Ofcourse qw is always faster, but I thought aero on QL would suck, but it's cool.

New map looked pretty cool. Lots of open corridors though for rail flicks.

well, i think that it's a bit too early to make a judgement, especially cuz as you already mentionned, it's a pretty big duel map. I think that when the players will have some decent amount of experience on it, it could start to become really interesting, you know, just like Furious Height (t7).

Ye its too early to discard it, would like to see phrantic in map pools also and dismembered.

I think the map is good, but too predictable. It needs to be more dynamic. A player can have full control, but a good defensive player can foresee rushes. It's also difficult to to trap on this map as well as items aren't really in a "bait" format. Minutes upon minutes can go by where the person in control can keep control and it's difficult to break, but it can be extremely hard to close in on a frag with the way the portals are and how YAs are at a moderate distance from the more important items, making it tough to try and collect a YA as well as MH and RA.

I think two things should be tried:

1) The center YA teleporter should go to a different location than directly above. It should go behind RL (on the corner between RL and RA). He should also port facing the RL and be viewable from RA. This has interesting implications I think.

- If a person is out of control trying to be defensive collecting yellows, and is collecting the Center yellow, he cannot simply port and be free from the enemy who is presumably on RL ledge. This encourages a dynamic situation. If the person teleporting is quick and the opponent is not on his heals, the person who may have been out of control can port, connect with a rocket, and be in position for red (or even commit for a frag). This makes it more realistic to run important items since porting makes the opponent potentially vulnerable instead of safely backpedaling through the center YA teleport.

2) The bars that view the RA area should be taken down. It's a pretty boring cutoff point in my opinion. Simply taking the bars completely down may work, giving the opportunity to maybe speed jump to RA or rocket jump from RA toward the 50 bubble. Maybe could be a cool trick jump opportunity with some small pieces that stick out of the wall or something. I don't know, it just seems like RA is too secure because of the long distance between RL hallway and RA, the jump pad from below, and the bars from the upper side. So despite being multiple ways to get there, not enough action is taking place. Maybe enough action would be taking place, however, if suggestion #1 was implemented.

I think both these things would make the map way more interesting and dynamic. It could potentially be a GREAT map, as right now it's pretty good. Maybe both of these implementations would be too much, but one could be ideal. I think it's worth trying!

What is your opinion on Hektik? Would really appriciate it if you could say something about it though you are probably preparing for quakecon and therefore haven't played it that much. I personally would love to see the map.
Maybe you could add your thoughts about the other duel maps too :P or at least say which one we could see on a professional level.

Was playing Hektik and some of what DaHanG is saying can apply to there too...Hektic has serious potential as an amazing duel map, but not sure the multi-teleport to mega will produce entertaining, dynamic gameplay.

I haven't played hektik yet, just looked at it.

I thought it was interesting, maybe because its a new map and i didnt really now what they would do. But the ending was pretty fantastic. Both reacting fast and rj up to ra to battle it out was really nice.

I think it will end up being a really fast paced map because its really open in some places and you can move fast around the map or to the open areas with some rj.

gotta be honest man, this tournament was a joke from the start... not the event itself, but just the circumstances.

we get there at like 10 AM on Saturday and QLIVE is down and we don't actually even play a match until like 3 PM. We finally get setup and start to play.

If you can call it "playing". It was 16-17" acer monitors that you could probably buy at wal-mart, and the computers were shuttles that would dip to 20 fps for a solid 3 seconds at random times, and it happened very often.

right off the bat vs rapha, on hub i lag and chug off a ledge towards mega. then the next match vs dahang, i fall from RA on ztn trying to jump to shotgun cuz i'm dipped to 20 fps.

I'm not making excuses, and all of my maps, with the exception of maybe rapha on hub, were winnable, but I was lacking motivation to play a match let alone even practice on these machines.

QuakeCon will be much different, that I fucking guarantee.

I've been here and I know that Cooller had some good aero games, but he lost vast majority of them as well. Of course he was good, but wheat/Slasher praised his hub game like he was some sort of czm back in the days. And I always thought Cooller hadn't the map knowledge that you, Spart1e, fox, ArrW and couple of others have.

I wouldn't put him in top5 aero players. Never.
