Need advice from aimers (84 comments, locked)
Posted by drbblr @ 18:04 CDT, 10 June 2014 - iMsg
Usually its not me but people asking me things like what mouse sens i use etc. But atm i came to the point where there is a big dillemma and want to hear your advice.
So the story is: i always relied on the power of muscle memory and could say it payed off after time i spend on practicing with constant same sensitivity. I consider myself as a good aimer and while not being a former quake player,by setting the same sens i used for years and learning quake mechanics i have stable 50% railgun and 35% lg in ql on pubs. When i just started with competitive gaming my 20.78cm/360 didnt feel that natural being mb a bit too fast but now through years im very comfortable with that both on close/long range.
But recently some obsessed idea came into my mind: what if i lower mouse sens to smth like 9inches/360 (~22.86cm/360) so its still relatively high to keep that wrist/finger aiming technique im used to but more steady mb allowing to hit more long range pixelfrags, harder angles and positions etc.
So the question is would i really benefit from this change after getting used to, or nothing is stronger then muscle memory you were getting through years? Mostly affraid that close combat direct weapons like shotgun or flak cannon in ut would suffer most for me since im good with em now but everything slower seems too sluggish.
I know its quite personal, and most tend to say just stick to what you are comfortable with, but even top players tend to tweak settings from time to time, so mb someone can share similar experience or just bring some info for discussion and to think about. Thx.

GPU scaling dont work. (5 comments)
Posted by drbblr @ 07:54 CST, 17 February 2014 - iMsg
Recently ive got a system with WinXP SP3 32bit and Benq XL2411 monitor. The problem is that in Nvidia control panel there is simply no options related to image scaling like GPU scaling etc for some reason.. There is only an option to change the size and position of desktop but its not what im looking for. Installing monitor drivers from cd didnt have any effect. Current Nvidia driver is 301.42 but have tried few other versions which didnt help me either.

As far as i know its almost the same game released by different developers/publishers. Just wonder whats the difference between those titles, which has more maps, servers and players base. And basically which one is better and deserves more to give it a try?

Software to measure mouse "true" dpi (3 comments)
Posted by drbblr @ 21:40 CDT, 12 October 2013 - iMsg
Just wonder if there is software which could measure how much real counts per inch defined mouse have. Actual dpi can usually differ from what mouse manufacturer state. Would be very useful, because for example there are still confusement about WMO 1.1 being 400dpi officialy, while in some tests it show 450 or 430 real dpi. And generally it might help a lot when switchin from one mouse to another for the same reason (both may be lets say 1000 dpi,but actual speed can differ a lot).
Guess if there is a program like MouseMovementRecorder which can show only x-axis counts, then by moving cursor from the left to the right side of the windows screen and having in mind screen resolution it might do the job.

NVIDIA Series 300 Drivers (8 comments)
Posted by drbblr @ 19:45 CST, 11 January 2013 - iMsg
There are allready threads discussing it around here, but some went too far away from the topic, while others ended up with unnecessery flamewars etc, so decided to create a new one.
So the first thing i would rly like to know is:
In the age of widescreen monitors some ppl still prefer to play in 4:3 and Nvidia GPU Scaling was a good solution for that untill 240.xx drivers or smth where this option became absolutely broken, adding massive input lag when using it. So the question is-was that fixed in 300.xx series drivers or the current situation isnt any better atm? Some say it was, while others say the opposite, so just curious what you guys think.
