This was way more fucking me(n)tal than I thought it would, absolutely amazing edit and captured atmosphere with one of the best freecams I saw in a movie after Patrick Sturmers memorial series. 10/10 gonna rewatch straight away

Wow, this is high quality work. I really enjoyed it, and am impressed with the artistic choices, which for me worked very well. I felt I was there, tearing enemies apart like the doom slayer would. There are some moments where the photography is stellar (that shot in overkill at the top of the jumppad \o/).

I still prefer king of fire :) but this one is amazing as well ! thx

Not a fan of the 300-ish visuals, but really great music

Frankly CC could be much better, not sure if you made exactly this kind of look on purpose or not, but still its one of the most creative and entertaining movies I've seen so far in quake.

Nice. Critique after first a few watches:
I didn't like how there's a slowdown on basically every frag, at least in the beginning of the movie. It didn't help that the slowdown speed is the same everytime. Around minute 6 you stopped doing that (when the music becomes more intense I guess, but it doesn't actually get faster does it), and it made the movie better. Original speed frags with slomo scenic shots (some of which are very nice) is good. Though maybe there's just too many of the scenic shots.
Transition into middle part (second song/piece) is very good.
Not sure about the recoloring, it doesn't look very clear (except in a few handful of instances, none of them frags). Maybe brighter walls with picmip+mapoverbrightbits would have helped, but then it loses the grittiness. Maybe Picmip 0 with gl_nearest. Though I only watched it on youtube in 720p (not fullscreen), so I might be talking bullshit. You didn't add glow or bloom, did you?
Rocket explosions are too bright and opaque. I wouldn't have used smoke trails, or only the very small ones.
Some game sounds are necessary I feel. Could have edited in rocket/gibs sounds afterwards.
I don't think we need to know who exactly got killed in every frag. Better to make a "People fragged in this video" list at the end. In any case, I don't like the font choice either (also it's too big I think), and for the first minute I thought the names popping up are people who contributed frags.
Music is a question of taste, but I feel like this was not dissonant and, because of that, not intensive enough. Too conventional in harmonics and rythm.The impressionist visuals require a bit less vanilla music, something like this or this (or really any early SOAD) with the bass turned up to 11, or something like what was used in Nightmare (I'm sure you remember that movie), though that movie was too over the top in places. I remember when you used Iwar by Wardruna, which I preferred greatly over the music in this movie. Probably i just don't like this style of metal.
Make more movies.

Hey man, thanks for the detailed feedback. To be honest, practically everything you listed was intentional in one way or another, and had been deliberated upon quite a bit, even the extra-thicc rocket trails... but I think I lacked the skills, vision and patience to execute and fine-tune them all together flawlessly.

I admit I am not entirely satisfied with the end result, unlike Imperator which I'm super proud of, but it was something I needed to get out of my system, and it "wasn't going to be any other way"... like everything in life I guess ^^

Either way, it was a good opportunity to increase my video-editing skills, and a another lesson in the process of creating stuff, too. When you spend X amount of hours on a project, you pass the point of no return and become incapable to see it from an outsider's point of view. It's something that sneaks up on you, so it's good to have more experience in that regard as well.

This will probably be my last movie though, but if I do somehow start grinding #tdmpickup again and make another one, it will most likely be a one-song "Imperator 2" affair in a couple of years time.

Movie was a bit too dark imo but Kevlark would probably be pleased. Still a very well done production as usual with some nice frags from what I could see but King of Fire and Imperator were much better for me.
