this is my next monitor... in 2018 or 2019 :>

i like both zowie and benq a lot, but there's no point getting a 180hz+ monitor atm, cause overpriced and you have to get at least 180+fps in order to make the screen look smooth as fuck. Only competitive games where you can get 180+fps atm are QL and CS:GO.

no way i can get more than 180+fps in OW (lol who cares anyway i don't play this game anymore :D) or DOOM or even QC in 2017, even tho i plan on getting 8 more GB of RAM soon (so 16GB DDR4 in total) and later a GTX 1070 instead of my current gtx 970 (and keeping my i5-6500, PSU, computer case, motherboard etc). My prediction is that i'll get stable 150fps in QC with my new graphic card and my additional memory at lowest possible gfx settings. Probably 200fps in Diabotical, but 250fps, no way. Would need to upgrade to an i7-6xxxK and probably get a gtx 1080 to run QC & DBL at respectively 200+fps and 250-300fps.

Looks interesting but kinda irritating that it's still going to have the famed issues of the TN, frame ghosting and latency.

Is there an improved form of lighboost out yet that doesn't fuck your colours/brightness?

I bit the bullet and bought one because playing on LCDs after using a CRT still rages me. Also the resale value on my 2411z isn't bad right now. It's an improvement, but not a really big one.

The blur is still the biggest factor. A reviewer tested it and apparently blur time scales with refresh rate so the blur dropped from 6.9ms on 144hz to 4.1ms on 240hz. They're coming out with a lightboost blur reduction model later, but I didn't bother waiting because as I'm sure you guys know it looks really weird on 144hz panels. The flickering was a bit jarring to look at, the brightness loss kind of sucked, and the slight added input lag didn't help its case. Perhaps things will change with it enabled at 240hz. It's going to look different considering that they'll have to flicker it faster and have a shorter persistence. I don't know if that will make it better or worse though.

I'd probably buy it again, but it's not going to make you play better. If you have the $ and yearn for anything closer to a CRT its not a bad purchase.

This 240Hz monitor has more input lag than the XL2411T that runs at lower refresh rate (144Hz).

This website has a very high quality testing protocole and here is their results for the BenQ Zowie XL2540 : http://www.lesnumeriques.com/moniteur-ecran-l.../test.html

I don't know why the input lag is so much bigger but i think it's either due to poor engeneering or poor hardware used to obtain 240Hz. By the way why don't they release 500/1000Hz LCD monitors already? Is it possible to obtain such refresh rate on LCD? (not talking about fake motion smoothing from TV).

I think we should wait 1 more year to see better 240Hz monitors and at lower prices.

2017 looks promissing tho.

Found this saying that the input lag measurements might not be accurate:

Anecdotally from using it it feels fine.

I realised most f you dont speak french so here is the summary :
input lag 13.5ms (most other gaming monitors are under 10ms)
frame persistance 3.5ms
They counted 280 frames per second and not 240 which i think is just a typo from them (maybe not?)
They used a 1000 frames/sec camera.

They provide an icc profile as they are camera nerds on this website, they re calibrated it for better colors.

I tried that icc profile and it doesn't seem to change much. It's also named for an asus monitor for some reason.

From reading the translated version of that site it doesn't seem to say what RGB color settings they used right?

http://www.lesnumeriques.com/moniteur-ecran-l.../test.html

This one has less input lag 9.7ms, higher resolution and better colors.
I wonder if the input lag is the same if we use 1920x1080 on a 2560x1440 monitor.

CES 2017 introduced HDMI 2.1.

HDMI 2.1 : 48 Gbit/s means 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz.

I belive it also means 2K at 240 Hz and 1080p at 480 Hz.

Now this looks very promissing but i wonder if any PC monitors makers will ever make 480 Hz in the near future.

Isn't there internal limits within LCD other than bandwidth?

I also wonder what does such a big resolution would do, does antialiasing become obsolet/unnecessary at 2k/4k/8k? Or does AA softening still makes sens?

There is internal limits within LCD other than bandwidth. The TN response time itself. Even at 240Hz panel that in XL2540 and other 240Hz native models.
