Not to take anything away from Leob, but it's all tarmac now. Though, given his history, it wouldn't have surprised me to see an equally record breaking run had it still been an all gravel event. Interesting that Peugeot now holds the pikes peak record for both all gravel and all tarmac.

Might be a possibility to see him back next year. I read a few sites that were saying his official run was a bit slower than many of his practice runs. Wouldn't surprise me if the guy could do it under 8min.

It's all good. I doubt he will do any time attacks/trials/rallies next year since he will be practicing for the 2014 WTCC.

Yeah, I'd say it's doubtful, but still hopeful. When I first started following WRC, I always thought Leob came off as sort of a prick. But I went back to 2001 and have watched the videos for almost every event up til now and I'm glad I did. I have to say the guy is just awesome, truly passionate about what he's doing and a good sportsman. It's going to be weird not seeing him at all next season.

I can't understand how circuit racing (especially NASCAR) is so popular while rallying isn't, in the US at least. Granted the WRC is a shadow of what it was 10 years ago, but it's still awesome. Wish more motorsports teams and auto manufacturers would see the light, or return to the light in some cases. With the 208, would be nice to see Peugeot back in the mix. They should redeem themselves after the shitburger they called the 307.
