They will be hard to beat yes but if you just look at the scoreline Sweden versus Finland, other than Deep Inside which to be fair would happen to quite a lot of teams, Dreadful Place was a completely different story, only 24 frags seperating the two teams.

So theres hope yet that teams meeting Sweden in the later stages can take a map or two from them.

Hmmm indeed, but strenx and winz can't play together, winz doesn't want to play with strenx. Perhaps they also share the same role in the team too, but at this level I guess you can play every role.

ye, i think its personal :) I think both can be all of them can be flexible on the rolls. It's a shame tho, FR vs SWE final would be very interesting if they managed to overlook the personal stuff.. Guismo seems quite good, but crv just doesn't cut it at that level :)

i could not name a full lineup or so but axion (2k) and lately t1e aswell i would say

i dont know what the player base looks like but hell in my opinion it would have been better to just ask a decent austrian duel player if he is interested in playing tdm with them. and by playing tdm i dont mean maybe showing up to the official match that had to be rescheduled already but someone who wants to train etc. its ql tdm, not rocket science, if you have 3 tdm players you can integrate and teach someone with the basic quake skillset in a few weeks. maybe you wouldnt reach the playoffs but maybe you would not drop and even have a better team next year. support and build "new" players instead of clinging to the same old guys who lack either time or motivation. would help the community a lot in general.
that being said i should stop posting on esr while im drunk ;)

Why? He has a point and as far as I know you didn't even ask t1e (dunno about the 2k player). And sry but infamouz sucked donkey balls in that match. Even I could have done a much better job. You prolly like to play with your guys but don't be surprised if there aren't any new players because they don't get the chance to prove themselfs. For someone who cares so much about tdm I would think about it.

Drunk or not, you make a valid point.

There is nothing bad coming from for having a few 'trainees' or whatever you want to call it in the national lineups. Mainly for learning reasons and to get experience. This does not apply to Austria only, just in general, but it would make sense to have a main 4-5 guys who play most games, then have 1-3 players that are in the team to learn, and to be backup for practice games and eventually real games. Even if they would not play many maps / season they would learn and perhaps become more motivated and when a old/veteran players leaves/quits, the gap would not be that hard to fill.

A good tip for our 'small' community to keep the competition going. :)

I always ran trials as captain and all my squads contained different people. I think its important to always bring new people on board and build a bigger local scene. Example is me, vor, nvc, betija, all of which were either B team players at first or substitutes and eventually broke through to be first team choices.

If people put in the effort and stay active eventually (if the captains are fair) they should get their chance.

I honestly think its partly the players too. They need to step up and be clear they would like to play, but also accept the captains decision and support the team even if not selected. Players in Quake often have such overinflated egos, and all the issues around "I will only play with..." and "I wont play with..." just make it like a school playground.

axion, me and odihimself all were in Austrias lineup too, but too bad that at most 2 out of 7 players wanted to play in that cup anyway

same happened with other countries where some really decent players didn't even have the chance to be invited to the team

the difference with me is that I don't care all toooo much if I lose a match or not,
btw same happens in duel where the population that doesn't shit their pants about losing to a mid skilled player is at about 16 players for the whole of Europe; there were never that many cups (5-8 international duel cups per week) but never that few players as now

fox is noctis, krysa, linkin, tox class when he is active in tdm. He isnt as aggressive or focused on damage dealing as noctis, but he often got the least damage recieved and least deaths in the team. And he almost never make any mistakes.

Doubt we get to see him in old active shape again though..

Are you kidding me? We are not responsible for the other players personal lives, Zerg and myself have done everything we possibly can to arrange this game. The match protest has been kept up to date and as i explained in it last night, you'll get a definite answer by Saturday afternoon, what more can i really do?

I think I was clear enough in the protest. Providing dates and times when your team is available to play is step 1 when you want to schedule a match. Instead, just like a good number of quakers, you're both just discussing a random date on IRC when nobody is sure to play. Then you agree that's not possible and you just keep on throwing another date.

There is probably no rush, we absolutely want to see all matches played, I don't really blame you especially (or zerg), and I'm not talking in the name of all the eu/ql admins. Plenty of time and energy, including for those who are covering the games, could be saved with this simple but yet efficient method.

Whatever team we put out would have struggled on osp5 regardless. Due to the changes in the team we traded our dm20 for purgatory because of the different lineup, a map which some of us have some success with and even though we made a meal of it, we came good eventually. The deciding map wasnt exaclty going to be easy for whatever team we put out (hypothetically) especially considering they had 2 outstanding players in Winz and Linkin.

As much as i would have liked for the UK team to make it to the final we got knocked out by in my eyes the team which will take the trophy so i can't really have that many complaints. I only wish it had ended in a slightly better fashion without the player "issues" that we suffered today.

Nevertheless, come the 3rd place game we will field our most sensible lineup from the players who want to play or are available to play.

Yeah definitley, osp5 and dm14 probably due a hike, we need some new maps with different variations to them.

The only reason i could think to keep dm14 is because it provides the option to play different styles of game, either that or replace it with a new tbc alternative or something.

let me sum it up. I always agreed to play with winz, even though I don't like him, I'm here to win and not to put my personnal issues first. He still does not want to play with me, it's not my fault. I'm still laughing, when people talk a bout strenx, linkin and winz are certainly the most arrogant person in France, winz always gave interview to say : "my goal is to be the first, I will be the one blabla, and when he realised the high skill level now (in duel at least) that he could even reach top 1 FR player, he said something like : "ID killed the game with Timelimit 10, it crack me up because cypher strenx cooller are still the best and never complained about the TL 10.

you focus on the wrong argument, the important thing is not to know if tl10 is worse than tl 15 (we know the answer.) , just it's not a barrier to be the one, cuz the top player didn't change between tl15 and 10, so i am just saying it's fun all the interview of winz where he said he want to become again the top french player and world... and after that he search a pretext... TL 10...

that's all and i am pretty sure all the french top player are arrogant so ... no problem.

Dunno i played with winz a few times and he seemed a nice enough guy. Seems more like people make up stories to hate on certain players.

Yes the two of them have their reasons for disliking one another but thats between them and shouldnt influence anyone else.

Really? Hmm i'm sure i saw a third spot with METSU name before it.

Anyway, i think a lot of people suspect some kind of foul play, but when i spec him i have a very hard time pointing my finger at anything. He moves well and makes good decisions (and bad of course).

But what bothers me is that i don't know who the hell he is. He comes from out of fucking nowhere to me, even though i haven't been very active the last couple of years. I know who everyone else is more or less.

Anyway, time will tell :)

Well played frenches, I'm very glad we played with the best line up we could get and I'm pretty sure we could have won that match if the team had practiced a bit more. There were some floating moments that could have been better I guess.

Anyway, congratulations to Denmark, their line up was amazing and I don't need to add anything about Juven1le...

Now more competitions like that and with proper cashprices please.

Congratulations Denmark and thanks to all Nations that participated and helped us admins to run it with a nice and tight schedule!

Thanks also to the many streamers who covered nearly every game in this tournament. I heard the amount of viewers especially in the finals was quite impressive.

Great event, and I really enjoyed both participating with the UK and streaming. I think these events over a shorter period of time are much better then spread out over months.

Hope people enjoyed our commentary, I feel I didn't quite get across the excitement of the final, because I became a bit too engrossed in the action, especially the last seconds I totally lost track of the time.
