Firstly nobody knows when the gold will be the highest or lowest in the first place.

on the pensions system, if you're referring to the dividend tax on pensions funds, dividend taxes are a good idea in my opinion, as dividends are simply excess money from companies that have nothing to reinvest it in.

i'd be willing to bet, the shares which had the biggest price drop over the last few years were those that paid dividends. because those companies aren't growing, they have nothing to invest excess profit in so pay it back to their shareholders. discouraging people from investing in companies that aren't going to invest back into society is good in my book. and government can reinvest part of that money back into society, if it didn't, it would do nothing.

on gold, the loss has been exaggerated as the interest bearing assets bought with it, made us money in the form of a yield. plus gold is kind of shit, it does nothing, i'll never understand peoples fascination with it.

these events remind me of the story of midas. seems to be the mistake of the last decade or two, even 3 - forgetting what's truly valuable.

i think the worst mistake he made was not recognising this crisis, with sirens blearing, tests on northern rock and the banking system a few years earlier showing it's vulnerability etc. he's not the only one, most didn't. i'm betting no other party would have prevented it or even cushioned for impact. derivatives, banking regulation, the trade deficit, these are my main tiffs.

There are a number of reasons why not voting is harmful, it's worse than voting for a second rate major party. Turning off voters is a big strategy and was used a lot by the Bush administration's spin doctors by dragging every debate into mudslinging. This meant only the older party die-hards bothered to vote reducing the representation of the democratic process and helping the conservative incumbent. The second reason to vote is what I mentioned before- if you don't vote then every lunatic BNP voter's vote has greater weight as a part of a smaller turn out. People died for the right to vote, don't waste it on protests no one is listening to.

I should have to choose between 3 people I rather not see in power to ensure that my least favorite isn't selected? I rather stick to my idealism :)

I prefer the way we do it in Sweden, where every party gets different amounts of seats depending on the amount of votes they get, and they need at least 4% to go in the Riksdag, and there's a rift down the middle between two party-alliances. You vote for the side which is less evil, but increase the party you voted for's power in that alliance, thus shifting the politics.

It's funny how someone who lives on the opposite side of Britain thinks he knows how things are where I'm from.

You may notice that a lot of those stabbings happened in, or involving people in certain areas. Pretty much all of those areas are full of poor households who struggle to get by, lack a decent education and have to live in poor conditions.

Most of those people were also 1st/2nd generation British.

You're right, Googling "Knife Crime London" is a full proof way to provide evidence and statistics for knife crime in London, and that's not to mention some of those killings weren't even knife crime (Which just goes to show how "strong" the journalism in that article is).

That doesn't tell us much about knife crime, or the involvement of immigrants, racial minorities or people with foreign names(?) in crime.

It's a shame you didn't provide any statistics to argue against, but at any rate there is no statistic in the world that prooves what you think they do.

Secondly, I don't have a stat for this, but I have overwhelming confidence that if you take the last 100 murders in London, for whatever reason they happened you will see an alarming trend which backs up my point about migrants (or those with less than a 50 year history in the country), particually the black community having an overwhelming presence despite being a minority.

The majority of crime is caused by people living in poor social and economic communities (Often under the poverty line for this country) and are unable to support themselves and their families.

Far too many immigrants that are allowed into the country fall into this category, except the situation is made even worse since they often poorly educated and have poor English skills.

Life is incredibly difficult for people in these communities (not just immigrants obviously), but since the majority of immigrants live in these conditions it comes as no surprise that there is a disproportionate amount of crime compared with the population.

It's not because the immigrants are Black, Asian or East Asian it's because they don't have the required skills or finances to survive properly.

It's a vital distinction which you fail to make time and time again, which is why your racist beliefs are so clear to everyone else.
