i have lukins map pack in my q4base but i still can't play moonsoon and galang, q4 just says that it can't find the maps... why? =(

try adding the maps to your q4max folder.. i don't know if it will help but i've heard that it works sometimes.

1. make sure you have all the map files needed, eg this demo needs that u have map_tmp02.pk4 (from tmp map pack),
map_wvwq4dm1.pk4 (placebo) etc maps in ur baseq4 folder. It is not enough that u have the lukins pack , you got to have atleast all the maps the server setup had :(

2. while playing from Q4MAX ensure that u have demo_enforceFS 1 i.e. enforce media only .

lastly pray to the allmighty that it works :P q4 is pretty random in terms of stuff that works and that doesnot :))

you might be wondering then how the fuck u could play Phrantic but believe me phrantic demos play even with demo_enforceFS 0 i.e. equivalent to force off in q4max and this behaviour is particular to phrantic only...I could play all phrantic demos right from the beginning when I didnt know much about this shitty pk4 business in q4.

in quake4 it doesnt really matter if you got everything you need, it wont work anyway

haha ye funny to see how Q4 still has no decent demo playback after more than 1 year (!) and several 'major patches'. wonder if they'll ever do their job and fix such basic shit for once and for all :l

maybe its just stupid ppl or im extremely lucky because i maybe had 3 occasions where i had problems with playing back demos.. and 2 of those were stupid mistakes on my part.. and i watch alot of demos

its still stupid to have demos demand all the maps on the server. yea i know it can work without this when you set enforceFS to 0 but that results in graphical glitches.

I was so disappointed in that map. It had ledgend like status coming into q4.
By the time it made q4 it proved how far things have come along and how old level designs need to be updated to match the top players awareness/skills etc.

Possibly the most flawed level design I have ever seen given it's hype.

It's still very very good to Q2. Even if its been played since 1997/1998 :) The maps does not work to Q1/Q3/Q4 because the movement/sound/game play differences, simple as that.
