Hi all,
I havent made a movie in some 10 years but this year's DFWC was so fantastic I put together some memorable moments and runs.




A few notes:

-This movie is meant as a celebration of the event and a tribute to the brilliant work of the organisers, mappers, streamers, donators and of course the runners. My respect and thank you to everyone involved, it was an amazing event.

-I focused on top20 runs and I tried to offer a large variety of runners, a healthy balance of vq3 and cpm. There was twice as much material as I could use so I had to make some hard choices, if you are a top20 runner and you did not make it into the movie I hope you understand.

-No Top1 runs. It is an unspoken tradition that movie makers much more skilled than myself eternalise the DFWC with a top1 runs movie. I did not use any of the top1 material for this reason.

"We know that Bronze Cards give 3 perks and different guns. I stated towards the end its not TECHNICALLY "Pay to Win". However its the drop rates & business model that pissed us off. Where you can end up getting cards you cant use in a pack that you purchased unless you spend more gold to craft them into YET MORE RNG cards (that again you might not be able to use). Also in this game you have to rely on RNG to order to get the "Perks" and "Guns" and Scopes that you want. Thanks for defending your new game, we understand your need to!! I really do. But understand our right to be annoyed by this model that is clearly built specifically for this purpose instead of normal or player selected unlocks, perks, guns and skins. I don't like it and I think its a bad system that shouldn't be duplicated in other games.
Also, In addition to spending $55 on some cards I cannot use or didnt want at all (due to the RNG). I also had gold credits given to my account, I think something like 90K, I heard other streamers were given even more, like 300K. If you only knew how much time that would take you in game to get that amount of gold, you'd see how even more of a problem the drop rates are and the RNG system actually is. You average 100-200 credits per game after a 1,000-1,500 first win of the day gold bonus, you do the math on how long that would take you to have the amount of gold I used in this video. The system pushes you to pay for the Elite Cases, and you can tell from my video what you get in Elite Cases if you do."

Cityz had the idea of people coming together in order to celebrate quakecon 2015 as it deserves to be. The idea was well-received and a facebook group has been founded which I hereby invite you to join.

1. insane tricking showing bridge to rail in one jump done in vq3 (osp I think)

2. Osp frag movie showing a ztn tele trick. shooting behind you while you are exactly IN THE TELE and you pop out fast ztn top yellow exit

3. 30 minute long q3 movie the intro is perfectly synced with the Who - won't get fooled again, at the part where he does the CSI Miami scream someone hits perfect plasma synced with the beat

4. last but not least and this one is tough, there was a fragmovie with really really filthy dubstep, it showed a lot of bfg rocket combos and even excessive+ I think, sorry that's all I remember.

With so few input on the site I decided to throw in a read.
The way I see it quake is experiences the golden 20`s. We probably haven`t had that much action since 2008. There are new fragmovies ever week, the CPM crowd seems to cup a lot (that`s right I used cup as a verb), IEM and Zotac got replaced without difficulty by, I argue, better substitudes such as Facey and 125fps, CB sign ups are running, zoto ins and DDK rising in quality and fellowship, Quakecon delievers a non-spinning-logo performance next to flawless, Zamuz is practising for the sweden`s got swag cup (according to Minimia), there is a sweden`s got swag cup ( name by mouse* (c) ), aeol and fraze going to DHW presenting the aussi fraction first time after dandaking 2010, staying with the interconnectivity of the quake world for a second: numerous people packing their mouse and matpakke for Czech Republic - the meeting point between the European and Russian fraction which I dare to pronounce the backbone of our movement; it is glorious times in deed.

The only bitter pill these days: DHS probably dropped quake forever but let`s be honest quake was carried by pity and sympathy anyway for years now. I don`t want to get as frisky as to argue not anymore but the tendency is there. So what happened? Or to do justice to my amazement: What the fuck is going on folks?

Was it a good deal of cash brought in by Facey? Did the newly caught attention convince viewers or even generate new fans who end up donating for noble projects naming 125fps?

Zotac was struggling to get over 500 viewers now zoto has 800 on a daily basis. Is it the result of finally seeing new maps being played in tournaments on a regular basis?

Was showing CA the cleverest trick id ever pulled? And is it enforced by the mass of shootmania players who find their skill usefull for quake and therefore are picked up by us?
I had to pull that joke, ignore this paragraph.

But I can not celebrate the renaissance without taking a critical glimpse into the threatening dusk down yonder. In the beginning I used the term golden 20`s and I will elabrate on this in a second.

I hope very much I am mistaking but I don`t buy the (possibly) deceiving feeling that we are experiencing a permanent rise and consolidation of our scene, it almost feels like a mini version of the healthy q3 era around 2001. Surely we are more dedicated now though. Are we on a hype at the moment? Is it just a little bubble on it`s way to the sky or a short-lived flower blooming by? Or are we at a milestone from where henceforth we will continue to strenxen the t1es?

Let`s imbibe the epicness of this moment and grasp every opportunity to watch donate and lan (that`s right I used lan as a verb), just like the people of the second decade in the last century, let`s pick up the spirit of the time and enjoy, winter is coming, or it is not.

Hey, I learned quake from the old school clan waidlafraggers e.V. They are actually from my town and we still play the waidlafragger christmas lan every year. Stuff Voocee h4mper gloom and the bunch used to make these hilarious videos. I searched for them for hours but they seem to be gone forever. Does anyone by any chance still have them? They should be preserved and reuploaded for the oldschool's sake, it would mean a lot to me.

I found a thread from 2004 but all background information I could obtain is that it used to be called xsreality. Also what is the oldest thread?

hiho, some time ago i accidentally might have covered up an exploit. i tryed to reconstruct it with a couple of other players but we didn't succeed. Anyway it is still bugging me that we were not able to do it, so I thought i would pass the torch to the broad crowd, maybe you will reveal its secret.

I played a public match on ironworks (c7) 6v6 early 2012.
the warm up ends and the countdown sets in.
right between second "1" and "fight" I got telefragged at red base red armour exit.
I instantly spawned at LG which is not a match-start spawn point. This would be a massive advantage since it would allow you to be at enemy red before the opponent is and you could catch the def off guard.

Maybe some of you will try it. good luck :)

I had a dream last night, actually i had an idea within my dream :D. In my dream i played theoretical ql duel, just like u can play chess or backgammon in a browser or via cellphone app. Here is the deal:

imagine u are in the train or at uni etc and u duel a friend on ztn via netbook or mobilephone in the style of an oldschool textandventure.

The concept is round-based.

The game starts and both players get their spawn location told. Now it gets randomized who can make the first step.
You can chose options like : 1.go to lg, 2.go to RA 3. stay at yellow and listen.

After the first player did his choice player 2 follows.
If they meet both pick if they want tofight or they chose escape route.

If it comes to a fight, you might make a 2-3 step fight like pokemon or something. The fight system would take weapon, position,(and maybe elo o.0?) into account.

The items would spawn every lets say 4 rounds, and you of course only know your items taken.

One game runs 50 rounds or something.

This is not thought through well yet but i am very fond of the idea, it might be an entertaining game for cellphones or netbooks.

Tell me what you think.

Also if this turns out to be a multimillion euro success you heard it here first. its called "mouse*duel " with my big fat copyright on the idea.
