My entry for the contest, I think I pretty much managed to fulfill all their requirements, especially the whole grandiose/epic music aspect with a special orchestral edit of the famous Rocky theme.

According to this post, the daily cups were financed by strenx with the help of people who donated, but since it was a 400$ prizepool in total with 10$ per cup and 8 cups a week, if my calculations are correct, they should have ran out of money approximately 2 weeks ago.

So I originally thought that the faceit daily cups would eventually stop, but apparently they are still doing them, with the same prizes, so who is financing them now ?

First of all, like all conspiracy theory it's pretty much bullshit, but unlike all conspiracy theory it isn't that far fetched which makes the whole thing at least a bit funny instead of being just completely irritating.

Bloodrun is probably the most played map in casual duel play, it's probably even overplayed to death. It's isn't rare that some people pay for premium/pro and still massively play ztn which we all agree is a bit stupid. It's also the only popular non premium map in cup map pools, because quite frankly not a lot of people play dm13 or t7 on public servers, mainly because people don't like these two maps.

With all that being said here comes the conspiracy part, ID decide to change the spawns and to completely change the feeling of the map. People aren't happy and don't want to play the map anymore, but they still don't want to play dm13 or t7 either, so what could they possibly do ?

THEY BUY A PREMIUM OR A PRO ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO PLAY THE PREMIUM MAPS IT'S SO GENIUS AND YET SO SIMPLE BUT THE SIMPLICITY IS ALSO WHAT MAKES IT SO GENIUS SO IDK LOL

Well, pretty much everyone knew it, but Carmack expressed it himself during his keynote : "Quake Live has not been a business success".

And eventhough it does make them lose money, they apparently don't plan to shut it down.
About the next Quake, although it is not currently being developed, it will be developped internally.

I didn't see anyone talking about that and I thought it was a pretty interesting insight about the current state of the game.

Well, thanks to xou's post and to my neverending boredom I decided to /alias all the main maps for every mode.

Ok so now instead of /callvote map bloodrun or /callvote map dismembrementeohgodhowthefuckdoyouwriteit you just do /ztn or /hub3dm1 and autocompletion works with custom alias so you don't even have to type hub3aeroq3 entirely.

Some maps have multiple alias, like phrantic is either cpm24 or swq4dm1, courtyard is either ctf10 or w2 and aerowalk is either cpm22 or hub3aeroq3.

I guess at least some people will find it useful.

I couldn't be arsed to do all the brand new maps because I don't even know if they will be really played and they don't have any short name.
