Hi,

I've always been a pretty decent gamer, but no matter how many tutorial vids I watch or guides I read I've never quite gotten the hang of strafe-jumping. For 9 years now I've been trying to make that dumb jump to the railgun on Q3DM6. After nearly a full day of practicing I did manage to make it once about 3 years ago, and I haven't touched Q3 much since then.

Unfortunately UT3 (my game of choice) is pretty much dead on arrival. It seems that later this year Quake Live will be the only DM game with an active North American community. That means I'll probably be picking up where I left off and learning to strafe-jump properly. I'd like to start with the bridge2rail jump because a lot of Quakers tell me it's one of the easiest and most practical jumps.

Today my internet connection randomly died so I spent some time practicing the jump offline. I've attached a 20 minute VQ3 demo of the results. You can also download it from this mirror:

As you can see, I'm terrible. I seriously can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've tried circle jumping from several spots, air-changing at different distances, moving the mouse faster, moving the mouse slower, bending the spoon with my mind, etc. Since I know a lot of pro-Quakers hang around on ESR I figured it would be a good idea to ask for help here. If any of you could PLEASE watch that demo and (after you're done laughing at me) point out anything you see that I'm doing wrong or that I could do differently I would... well... I'd play Quake more! ;P

Halp!
