It gave rise to many of aspects of modern gaming that we take for granted. Its developers, modders, and even the very code of the game itself are ubiquitous in the industry today. Id Software's 1996 FPS gave rise to 3D gaming, client/server online play, the most prolific mod scene in history, multiplayer clans, server browsers, eSports, mouse-look as the PC control standard, Valve and dozens of other companies, and even 1UP's sister website, GameSpy. Some days after strenx announced he cannot go to QuakeCon 2011, the German derQuaker team tried to find out the reasons. What are the problems with his clan Fnatic? Why is spartie going to QuakeCon? Why is he still playing online cups?

"If you will have an interview with your new boss, would you like to tell him something about Quake?
I would just say that I’m used to play in a sport competition, and competition is an important thing for work. It’s a good experience, I really don’t waste my time in gaming and I really enjoy this accumulation of knowledge.”

It seems that fnatic doesn't send me to Quakecon, so Quake is over for me since there is no events anymore, sorry guys.

In another post he wrote that he will still play online cups. So we can still see him on Zotac Cups.

You've had to wait long but the time has finally come. satan_inside has spent countless nights in his dark basement working on epic special effects whilst RedSilias has spent his time watching and editing the tons of demos you guys provided. In the end the video has a total runtime of 9 minutes and 11 seconds but it took the guys more than 200 working hours to include all the fantastic frags of 23 different quakers. Hence, we are proud to present the first ever derQuaker Fragmovie featuring sick frags out of all major gametypes.

You'll see amazing air rockets, impressive rail shots and incredible power-up runs throughout this epic video. Are you included in this historic masterpiece? Did you make it? See for yourself! The German DerQuaker Team asked FFA superstar Antonio "TONY" Servilio about his life, Quakelive, the FFA mode and the DreamHack. Here is a snippet:

How can you handle the big fame? A lot of girls want to have sex, children and family with you. A lot of boys too!

Yeah I have got a couple of indecent requests, but I love my wife and my daughter *smiles*. My young baby likes to watch VODs of the matches everybody laughs a lot. My wife not that much, but she has got a Quakelive account, too, and she already played in past.

The german derQuaker.com Team relaunched the blog section. The first Blog is written by bw.mant1d. You can see his impressions about playing Quake. What was? What is? What will be?

Looking back at the trend of the scene since the release of Quake 3 in 1999, some names still remain. One example is Anton ‘Cooller’ Singov, who is always a dangerous opponent, but rarely has been claimed as Championship winner. The eternal second place if you will.

The scene today’s offers some well known names including Rapha, Cypher, strenx, Spart1ie, Fazz, k1llsen and many more. Sponsored by large companies they operate gaming not for pleasure only, but also as a source of income.

You are in a good shape right now, but who will win the Dreamhack in your opinion?

I will try hard to win of course, but in the last 2 years I lost many events in Quake scene. Nowadays I am trying to catch up because I realized some time ago that I really miss the times of winning tournaments. It`s such a feeling that u will remember till your last days, so my dream is to win some tournaments again. Hard work is waiting for me but I’m looking forward to that.
