Furious Heights, Cure, Sinister, Silence, Delirium, Lost World.
and enough already to torment ztn, leave it alone finally let go away quietly into retirement
I dont get it? Why every one removes etc aero and ztn and leaves dm13? its 10+ year slow + back , low scoring map. In every stream and most players whine, about it.. wtf?
The lack of railgun makes it very unique and the way the center/high is played is magnificent. I think it's a very good map to learn why being aware of your opponent's position and stack is extremely important in duel. Basically, it's the only old map I would keep in the map pool (but new maps only would be better).
ztn - because fuck you, ztn = quake
t7 - cmon, best map ever
cure - its awesome
sinister - voted for dm6 at first, but hell ya, it can be sinister aswell
dm13 - no rail, fuck you faggots
sinister is quite good actually, better than kiddie map Cure anyways.Delirium isnt that bad either, it reminds me of q4-torment with these dark textures, might be a very good map actually, just a bit unusual for ql.
yeah in q3 80% of the maps also were played by nobody except supernoobs. I mean sometimes I ask myself why they even bother putting them in quake live... like dm1, t6, dm8, dm15 etc. .. WHO plays those?
devilish was funny for a while but the map has serious flaws. I hate it when you let people who don't even play duel vote for the map. They'll vote for anything that is new. See esdf, doesnt play but barely watches if it's a quakecon final-ish duels and votes all of these new maps.
I have no problem for cure or sinister but devilish was definetly the worse of the three as of now in terms of gameflow.
Also, bring back house of decay please, this map allows different possibilities than the other common maps just like a map like lost world does...
... he wasn't against new maps, he was against idiots who have no clue voting for maps that community knows already to be shit and unworthy for competition.
Actually, there are quite a few good duelers trying out new maps. The 125fps one map cup has helped very recently, but even before that we only need to look at what versions the current newest maps are on to see how they have been played and changed.
BST said he was going to be updating delerium soon as well based on feedback. Devilish may be good with changes, but you have to have a mapper willing to do those updates, and even then it may not end up being good.
Spacecamp could possibly be made into a good duel map, but the effort required might be better put just making a whole new map instead of fixing something broken, you know what I mean?
should be the backbone of any maplist in my opinion. I'm aware that some people will complain about LW and ZTN beeing in the mappool for too long but please consider the fact some people want this, others want that... What we need is a compromise. And keep in mind I don't like ZTN at all.
House of Decay
Campgrounds
Dismemberment
Vertical Vengeance
are maps that all share in common two particularities in my opinion: they are either hated or loved AND they all come with a very specific gamestyle that is hardly comparable to other maps.
Note: I think I haven't left out any map that deserves attention and if I did, please correct me. As I have said above I don't like all of the maps I've listed so let's be constructive and all try and find a good compromise with all our diverging opinions. Don't forget that a good compromise should leave all parties not completely satisfied ;-).
typical every day quaker.. :)))
you even didn't mentioned delirium , maybe best duel map in 4 years..
ztn dm13 lol, these maps are older then you man...
ITS TIME FOR NEW MAPPOOL! We need 5 new maps core for new mappool and maybe rotate old/semi old 2 maps...
ps. I would live with current vote results.
furiouse
cure
lostworld
ztn
sinister
delirium
fuse
Anyway, I don't get your point at all. I'm pretty sure you havent read my post entirely.
Are you one of these stuck up people who cant find compromises ? Ever heard of democracy ?
There, to calm you down I will add delirium in there. "Maybe best duel map in 4 years.." -> this doesn't get any more subjective than that. In my opinion the map still has a lot of flaws and needs some revamp, eventhough it has potential. IT IS YOUR OPINION, I HAVE MINE, WE MAKE COMPROMISES.
ofcors we make compromises!
Just I saw, when we added 2 new maps to the pool of 7, they wasn't played a lot , or some removed later, becouse noone played them in that pool of 7..
We need 5 new maps +furious !
Create a set of 10 maps with the classics and the most promising new maps. To the end of every month, e.g. during the last show of the month, draw 5 maps for next month's mappool. If a map was not played in the first two months of the season, it is forced for the third month (Maybe even the other way around, so a map cannot be played three months in a row). This gives some months a pretty much all-new mappool whilst keeping the all-times iconic classics.
Giving it this twist of luck would hopefully decrease the level of ferocity in these discussions and conveniently make for quite an event every month (I am sure that the FACEIT production can milk this nicely).
Alternatively to a monthly draw, they could do that to the end of every show (before the grand final?) for the next week (again with restrictions like not three times in a row or smth).
Such a set of 10 maps could look like this: hub, ztn, dm13, tox and t7 for the classics (tox is not exactly new and t7 by now almost feels as oldschool as the others). As for new(er) maps, for example take in Sinister, Silence, Cure, Fuse and Delirium.
I think this is the closest we can get to playing the new maps while not forcing out the most played and generally liked, iconic classics. At the same time the new maps get played, since some months/cups are bound to have a (almost) all new maps pool.
For the finale battle at the end of the season: Contact the 8 players that qualified and let them vote for the 5 maps they want to play. Those maps with the most votes/highest votes (depending on how exactly the voting system is planned out) will be played.
Pretty much as I have written yesterday in another thread.
Oh and in between seasons, this set of 10 maps could be adjusted, if new maps do not work out as thought or for the purpose to let other maps in once in a while again, like dm6 or hektik/t9/etc.
the 'problem' with keeping 3 classic maps in the mappool is that a lot of people will just drop all the new maps throughout the entirety of the tournament and pick the old maps, leading to a very stale viewing experience. Maybe add dm13 to the unique map category, add another map from a different category and keep ztn and t7 as the backbone.
Well I thought about it but on a 7-mappool having 3 maps like this you can always dodge them aswell. If it is a bo1 you can just remove all three of them. On a bo3 you will be able to kick two of them out and be able to pick another rather unconventional map. Of course that depends on what kind of mappool we'd be on at the time.
Maybe you're right and we can have a backbone consisting of only dm13 and t7. Open to those ideas.
Although I don't agree with putting maps like dm6 in there at all, I really like your idea of cycling maps like aerowalk/hektik which are similar.
This is what swelt said in the other thread, that we should focus more ob having a mappool consisting of differnt types of maps, making it versatile and equally distributed, rather concentrating on which particular maps to be picked!
You are all the time aggressively seeking plusses. I say to you, you have to choose situations when to be aggressively seeking plusses but when not to be aggressively seeking plusses. I am talking it.
