where are those people, who claimed this will be THE best arena shooter with promising game-devs?

Truth to be said they where really a 'promising' all kind of stuff game-dev. Only promises though nothing got done.

But thats not the problem with this game.. the biggest problem is the 100000 modes hell... so the 12 active players get to play one of the modes and the possibility of you finding somebody else playing your mode is kind of small.

That's why normally you would want to start with small number of modes and if the game takes off - expand the available modes with the other improvements.

Pretending CA people will play anything else.

Yeah usualy CA like modes are the 'dead' of a AFPS game.. its a race to the bottom / a sickness for any game.

If only 2GD would have understand that..

2GD needed to understand that this shit was going to take time and careful iterations.

He spent years thinking about how the game was going to be played, then in less than 3 months he dismantled all of it with random ass, haphazard changes, then bailed after realizing he fucked everything up beyond repair. 4 months he made it past launch? Yikes.

one good thing about this tournament's prize distribution was that there was a small reward (I think 16$ per map) for every map win by every player outside the podium spot finishers. I hope future tournaments in any afps follow this model.

I know you're joking (ha ha), but a new weekly duel tournament was just played for the first time this Sunday. It ran super smoothly on the eggwp Discord.

The next one is on Saturday this week because of the Dreamhack Community Clash Duel cup on Sunday and next Sunday we have the Dreamhack Community Clash 2v2 cup.

Diabotical District is running leagues for both amateurs and veterans and the racing (Time Trials) community is really active with leagues and weekly cups, too. News time trials maps come out every week because of the easy-to-use map editor and because it's community driven they are quickly taken in to be used in the cups.

Instead of just bashing, I will give some context: agent is playing - 165 viewers from him alone. This goes to show how important is what game the pro players are playing/streaming. QL "died" imho mostly because the pro players switched to QC, especially if we consider in what state QC was back then.

why is it always a comparison between quake champions and those other games? there's more people who've moved on and are playing boots on the ground, low ttk shooters with a semi-realistic setting. whether they be party games like br or cod/bf, or regular mp like csgo/valorant/r6s.

nobody cares about this genre anymore because low ttk games basically won. and even if somebody wants to play a high ttk game, they'll just play overwatch. it's about the same in terms of shitty balance decisions, but ow just has much more players than qc and diabotical.

Because Quake 1 and Quake 2 are not low TTK, right? :P
In Quake champions you actually die quite easy/fast, but not on Q1/Q2 level fast.

id should drop QC and update QL with 2021 graphics and some extras if needed so everyone playing QC can finally stop playing it and go back to what they actually would like to play and we would want to watch.

"update ql with 2021 graphics" means literally the same effort like creating a totally new quake game, do you think it's viable for the 1000 people that will play it + even no monetization perspective beyond the initial cost. Sometimes it's good to put some rational thinking, you know.

Otherwise as a wishful thinking - yeah, would love to see QL with 2021 GFX (just to turn off everything so you can play competitively with better visibility and performance). :)

If QL was f2p and had a league it would have more people than QC.

aha, but it was f2p for years and had really decent price money tournaments. Yet it didn't stack that players number.

Access to tournaments, leagues etc must be in-game.

No one cares its 2021 and AFPS has been dead and will be dead for years it ain't' coming back. 10k for top tier player prize pool is a joke.
