Spectators also with ping 0!
Rapha shooting in pillar, it means Spectator view=Rapha's view

But Rapha trying to reassure players

[16:14] rapha: Like when he peaked I was aiming right on him again before the pillar or whatever, (it didn’t look like what the recordings showed but ) words in brackets-pure lie from Rapha, coz Spectators also with 0 ping
[16:15] rapha: That’s really the only real crazy desync situation I experienced all weekend

When you got DMG from LG\MG and don't die, you don't pay attention. But if you died ....

Such moments(with 0 ping) happens all the time, especially when you fragged from RG. I'm sure we can find more moments from PGL stream.

Sad. Actually there was a nastier one, when cooller fragged rapha with the nailgun from underneath on awoken. Rapha was totally pissed off, it was as bad as some of the worst glitches online.

Isn't this normal? Just because you can't see the enemy doesn't mean your hitbox isn't exposed. It should work the same way as when people can see your feet but you can't see them.

Client-side hit detection should not be a thing in quake. It makes online play so unsmooth and even on lan it messes things up... Big reason why i cant bring myself to playing this more :(

It really feels like it was a step back that everything switched to client side hit detection around the mid 2000s.. especially as connections got better over time and theres less need for it. I'll take having to lead a bit (which also raises the skill factor) over the many issues that client side hit detection as introduced to netcode across many games.

Exactly how I feel. Leading a tiny bit is really easy to do and doesn’t hurt anything at all. I just loaded up q3a for the first time in 10 years and it was the smoothest feeling ever. Played for quite a few hours of dm, can’t believe how much better it was vs QL. What a joke unlagged is.

Assuming that not having client-side hit detection equals having to lead one's shots is actually a misconception. You don't have to lead your shots in games like CSGO, Call of Duty or Quake Live, yet none of them utilise client-side hit detection. Instead they use server-side hit detection with backwards reconciliation, which is a much better method of doing these things (that first got introduced to Quake with CPMA/RA, referred to as 'unlagged' back then). QC still uses BR and server-side detection for projectile splash damage actually, only the direct hit and hitscan stuff is client-side.

well game works almost good during lan's, nobody complained on hiteg or netcode afaik. ofc there were some problems with occasional total freeze but early access status ;)
but it is still not internet/masses ready and i hope this is just a 18 month hickup that will stop soon ;)

thats exactly why we need mods!!!

lets be honest q3 wouldnt be as sucessful without OSP/CPMA competition options and same to q4 without q4max.

even ql still got only 80-90% of OSP/CPMA competition features and cpma xerp netcode is still better (smoother) than ql netcode (ql netcode would still suck without arQon).

its the mod developers who made great netcode! not ID developers!

I would instantly buy qc if they just allow mods (althought bethesda will get the money instead of the modders).

True, any quake game since at least quake 3 has only been good due to the community and in spite of Carmack and his dev crew.

It's the mods that made pro quake what it is, never the original games.

But mods are dead in 2018, bethAssda will never allow modifications to quake champions

Same, but there are some nice sub communtites, and sometimes I like to read up what is happening in those. The frontpage is true cancer tho, probably the worst ever.
I never go to facebook and sites like that, so I know what you mean.
