He showed off more concept art, said that KS may be later than may if he doesnt think its ready but basically they are working hard to get stuff into the alpha and get content looking nice. Also mentioned getting a functional duel mode ready or something I think.

He also said he has gotten some more funding so the KS goal will be slightly smaller (around 90k I think) and said he will be using some of the funding to properly finish the GD studio downstairs to have a proper place to film weekly updates and work on the game.

Then he showed off the new website concept art, revealed the name he is considering, answered a bunch of questions about the game.

The game isn't called Reborn? wtf

Hes spending the outside funding on it not the KS money.

I think its supposed to be an office for him and firefrog and maybe others as well as a studio for reborn/diabotical news. (I'm basing that off of an old gd studio video where he showed a downstairs area he planned to turn into a reborn office + what he said in this vid).

I dont think he has finalised any name decisions yet but he seems to be definitely moving away from "Reborn"

The strategy at this point seems pretty clear; make it pretty and swish so that it’ll succeed on Kickstarter. Unlike Reflex the amount funded is less important than simply succeeding so the actual goal will be much less.

Just more stuff about making it pretty, and swish. He's secured some outside funding but still "needs" £/$90k from Kickstarter... Totally not just part of his marketing strategy...

How seriously is 2gd taking the feedback from Twitch? Are a handful of people in Twitch chat now designing the game? It's like design by committee, but worse. (Then again he introduced the name change saying everybody was going to hate it.)

Gun model looks huge. (And we will not be able to turn that off.)

Why does the Kickstarter have to be in May anyway?

The new name: I liked Reborn more, don't think the new name suits the game, but whatever. (Sound of the vod was muted by Twitch during this segment, coincidence?)
And who cares if somebody trademarked a name that is similar to Reborn?

He only really seems to take feedback from twitch on art stuff. Gameplay he seems to have his own plans for that hes talking through with fox and fazz (from what I can tell) and he doesnt seem to consult twitch on that.

Asking potential customers for feedback isnt so ludicrous, especially for visual stuff. Also it seems like hes more just gathering feedback than letting them decide on stuff.

It has to be a joke with that name. :D

its funny with the title and all because the game actually looks kinda promising. a bit borderlandish but a cool robot game and if it packs all the promised features it shoould be a good one. hopefully enough people get behind it. It will have a good circlejerk at first, but how high the circlejerk wave will go is the question

Seems like he is getting lost already, that before even starting.

I quite liked the Reborn name when he announced this project, but it really doesn't make sense anymore now that the 'arena' fps genre was already revived by many others (that copied 2dg's ideas and/or took advantage of the momentum he initiated). About the title Diabotical....even vasectomy is better.

Lets put it this way: How many 'arena' fps were being developed before Reborn? How many were after?

Also, do you think it's a coincidence that some mechanics in Overwatch and that the Reflex in-game map editor look the exact same (100%) as in the Reborn prototype that was shown before those two first games?

i don't know how a bunch of quake clones with no player base qualify as a revived genre. he should stick with reborn.

By the time Reborn is completed there will be over 10, maybe 15 new arena fps games that are not going to precisely be indie games, all that were announced after Reborn was.

Does this guy ever do anything else besides making concept arts and then change em again the next week?
