Hey. My friend who lives in UK wants to buy a laptop.

Question1: Where should I look for these laptops aprart from ebay and amazon? What good internet stores with nice product range would you recommend?

Question2: What brand, what to avoid? MSI, Lenovo, Asus are good? Acer to avoid?

For: Bit of gaming, photoshop, movies etc.
Budget: 700-800Ł
Preferably: I7, 8-16GB Ram, 15.6 - 17 inch, good GFX (Which? Have no ideas about laptops GFX) + SSD hard drive if its possible, but there are so little laptops in this price with these.

Please halp :)

You can currently get a Crucial M500 240gb SSD for 76 quid in the UK

So get one of those, sell the 2.5" hd that comes with the laptop for about 30 quid or whatever.

doubt it, depends on the laptop.

hard drives are typically seen as 'user servicable' parts. For example; if my laptop broke, say the screen became faulty, there is no way on this planet i'm sending my hard drive in with my laptop. You're just asking to have your drive imaged.

Buy some ACER, they are 20% cheaper for same performance..
I bought Acer 3 years ago with i5 gt540 4gb 640gb 15.6 for 550GBP. Still works, never overheating. It runs most games with normal fps (ofcors not ultra settings). I will change my notebook soon, I will look for ACER again (before I will read a tons feedback online about that model).

Lenovo IdeaPad Z710 Full HD i7 - 650 GBP

This is on her mind right now.

The prices and the choice range in UK is pretty damn terrible if you ask me.

In pl you could buy an I7, 17 inch, 16GB RAM + 125 or 256 SSD with that. Anyway there are baerly any SSD laptops in uk with a reasonable price.

what about that laptopy things that hasnt got a pad (tnx god), it has a detachable screen that can stand on its own? ... i saw it a few weeks ago ... cant find it.

Intel powered ultrabooks perhaps, the Dell XPS 2-in-1 is pretty good, they are great for games like hearthstone and others that support touch screen, including Windows 8.1

That said, still doesn't beat dedicated graphics, though after using one for 3 days at an event I was extremely impressed. For the right price/offer I'd definately consider a "2-in-1".

Otherwise check out Scan 3XS custom laptops. I have only tried these briefly at events in UK so have little experience, but they look to have good specs for the price: http://3xs.scan.co.uk/custom/professional-gaming-pc/laptop

yeah looks good, but the one that i was looking at, did not had a mouse pad and it detached at keys, so you could flip the to other side the rest (i presume it is the battery) and had an up-right screen placed where ever you wanted.

But yeas i agree this system specs are excellent.
