I play all sorts of music - baroque, classical period, romantic, modernist, impressionist....

Lately I've been playing jeux d'eau, which is very difficult but probably the most interesting piece I've ever played.

Sudied piano and solfeo for 5 years. Actually playing first movement of Beethoven Moonlight sonata and Waldstain(my favourite sonata ever), studying Bach's famous Tocatta y Fuga and many Mozart sonatas. Also some modern crap to impress clueless people, you touch a technically vastly inferior modern piece and they go omg you rule, you play Waldstain and their face is like wtf is that shit? hahaha

Play the piano. Wouldn't really say I'm skillful at quake or piano. Currently studying first movement of the moonlight sonata by beethoven. I like chopin (SHOCKER!).

I had some lessons but I got sick and tired of having to play the same stuff over and over.

I think that even up to today can play the full "it's a small small world" within 20 seconds. At least on a keyboard I should still manage that ;p

yeah. I have one that's quite complicated. If you were in the US, you'd have heard of a store called BestBuy. you can easily go play the keyboards there to check out what kind you'd like to buy, cause there's a wide variety. some are very complex with shit ton of features, others are more simple.

BestBuy should never have gone into instruments. Sam Ash and Guitar Center already dominate the market. Local mom+pop shops will always triumph though. Nothing says "hell yes" like loyalty discounts.

Electronic piano with a stand (kan ff niet goed het engelse woord bedenken, ik bedoel een standaard :P ) and a adjustable piano chair. Setup the chair so your feet are on the ground and your upper and lower legs are at a 90 degree angle from each other, then adjust the height of the piano stand until you can play the keyboard with your lower arm in a straight line. Playing on your desk is just asking for injuries.

If you're still in the Netherlands, go to the closest feedback store. Buy a keyboard with touch sensitivity. Keyboards are good enough for a beginner in my experience and a lot cheaper than an electronic piano.

Then, look for a place to get lessons. You could teach yourself, but you'll obviously become a much, much better player much faster if you take lessons.

Not sure about that, becoming better and faster, but probably easier yes. You could probably get free lessons from youtube if you want lessons D:

The difference between googling youtube tutorials and an actual teacher is that a teacher will point out flaws you yourself didn't notice. Every male in my family is a musician and they always told me that they regretted learning their first instrument by ear because they felt their progress had been slower than it could've been and their technique is sloppy to this day.

If you have the place and money, fuck electronics piano, buy a compact real one. If tomorrow you dont want to continue studying, you just sell it. Some things are better the old way...

You may want to set a budget first, also for piano 88 (weighted) keys is a must. Doesn't have to be wood, these models are very expensive. I think a 'stage piano' is what your looking for, these are mainly made for piano playing, but often have some extra sounds like, strings, organs, EP's, maybe even some synth sounds and all that basic stuff.

I recommend looking into cheap models of Yamaha, Roland, Kawai, Korg. Can't really go wrong with those.
