those servers are pretty much horrible for everybody, I doubt there are any Slovenians/Croatians playing on them, but good luck!

I used to see quite some people from the balkans during early 2013, probably the routing changed later then.

I heard good stuff lately for Italian servers, I know before they were bad, now I wish I have tried them before they went down.

For me (Hungarian), that was the best location with solid 30 ping.

ID should just close down the .NO servers and use that money on .IT instead.

AFAIR, Norwegian server is donated just like Italian one.

Most server locations (except for like .de and another couple exceptions) are donated.

I can talk for CHL, that's donated. Also for the most part the ARG was donated as well, 4 years or so.

The sentence could be true this way: "Most server locations outside the US are donated".

Pretty sure ARG locations arent being paid by id but donated/charity.

Perhaps it was in the past, but I have received confirmation that id pays for it at the moment.

I figured that paypal generates an unique link every time the "donate" button is clicked, so obviously mine isn't valid anymore.

I don't know how to link the paypal donation button to this site, so I'll just advise you to either click on the "Donazione" button in the right column of the IDS website (the site in the second and third link of the OP) or use paypal to donate to [email protected] with motive "Team - Italy".

i am sure there is plenty of french people with super good internet and a computer to give to id.

Croatia doesn't have best routing to Italy, because t-com (major ISP) routes trough Germany.

Can't Faceit put one in their studio?
That would also provide a LAN server for possible future events there

well in general you are right about the italian situation, there are very few investments for internet connections expecially if you don't live near a big city.
But here you are talking about Milan and FaceIt stream is fine for most of the people, so your point is invalid.

i am from Algeria (north africa ) and as you know we dont have any server here , i used to play on both France and Italian servers cause i could get 47-60 ms their , but ID starts by removing France server ,ok i can play on Italian servers , and now , there is no Italian server anymore .

ID just force us to quit Quake live .

The italian Quake Live server has always been paid for by the community, and it will be back as soon as there is enough money.

IIRC a good physical server (not a virtual machine) with a quad core xeon cpu, lots of ram and a fat internet pipe.

So you have to have the server and not only send the money to iD who could have handle that part...

regarding the rent between may-2012 and may-2013, the server was a physical machine (above ql requirements).
specs: i5 3570 Quad @ 3,40ghz, 8GB Ram, 2x500Gb HD, ~20TB/month, 20000GB Monthly traffic

Well you want to donate a server or donate money? It's different, and I don't think id would accept money.

It should be noted that they need root access.

Donating a server means doing all the work needed for that, while id only activates it, gets free access to the pc and deals with the issues on their end. It's not just money.

That means money donated doesn't go to id but to a third party (lets say memento mori), that id doesn't pay directly, that everything organizational is done by somebody that doesn't get the credit he deserves, etc.

This is probably the key reason why QL is still up. Most of the international running expenses and game promotion are done by other people that do it for free, but they don't get pro/premium money :P
