hi everyone

i need a new monitor. i've always used just GOOD CRT, so i really don't know what to expect from an LCD, which one to buy, brand...

I love to play fps games ( still quake3, quakelive, counter strike...), but i also love to play other kind of games ( skyrim, GTA, tretris lol ).

So please help me to pick a good one. I've heard a lots of times of the benq ones. Which one is the best ? ( i mean there are few to choose like XL2411T, XL2420TX, XL2420T ). Actually i've heard they pretty suck in terms of colors and image quality. Is that so true? So much difference with an IPS?

Other brands maybe they're better? Asus/Eizo....?

With LCDs, you can go either TN 120hz or IPS. Best 120hz monitor seems to be the BenQ XL2411T (with lightboost hack). If you think can't tell a difference with 120hz and are fine with 60hz, then pick a IPS monitor for better colors and viewing angles.

lightboost hack can be achieved even with the XL2420T or just with the XL2411T. Is there any difference between them in terms of imput lag, image quality, etc,or it's just that 2411 reach 144 hz ?

A good IPS monitor that is very often recommended for gaming is Dell U2312HM.

TFT Central measures 0.6ms of input lag (which is too good to be true imo).

PRAD measures 9.3ms (more feasible but still very low for an IPS panel).

OCN and TL also recommend this monitor.

According to Prad.de, it is the fastest monitor they have tested, which would mean that its faster than the 2411 and 2420.

actually, i am looking for a fast monitor, but i am also looking for a good monitor to play other games that don't need 120 hz or lowest imput lag ( dunno, skyrim, gta..). So this Asus is superior to the Benqs ones in terms of image quality?

IPS has superior image quality and doesn't have the colour shifting issue that is inherent to TN.

Again, check out the Dell U2312HM.

As steffo is reporting this the LIGHTBOOST trick, that can be achieved with XL2411T or XL2420T. How comes that the XL2411T is better than the XL2420T ? Is it just for the 144 Hz?

xl2411t > xl2420t even in price.

in 3-4 weeks at http://3dvision-blog.com/ will be results of lightboost input lag of several monitors.

it's really easy to get used to.

I found it took more time to get used to a 22.5" after I sold my 27" than it did the other way around. :----E
