Upcoming sunday is the day of 3rd tournament from #tdmpickup draft series. In the previous news we asked you to vote for 5th map and here are the results: Grim Dungeons (9 votes), Terminatria (8 votes), Intervention (2 votes). The poll was closed at 06:00 CST, 13 February 2013. Hereby we declare the 3rd #tdmpickup draft tournament to be played on Sunday, at 10:00 CST, 17 February 2013, with Grim Dungeons as 5th map.

Please note that signups start one hour sooner, at 09:00 CST, 17 February 2013!

BoP_B_3aKoHe's account was registered in January. His rating was very low and he was the 4th seed for Team Rehepapp, but played better than him on some maps, and his tournament rating was much higher than the rating he was seeded with. This made people suspect he is a faker and/or deliberately played bad leading up to the tournament to get seeded with a good team. He on the other hand says he's an old player from Q3/Q2, and just started QL. That's all.

But having a team with3 players in top15, err.. all 4 of them in top20 was kind of "okeeey":)

His first few pickups did end with very bad nets, thus he had rather low rating. If he said the truth and is really an experienced old Q3 player who just started QL it's possible that in those games he was still rusty/out of shape, plus needed to learn newer maps. If this is the case, I guess rehepapp was really lucky with him.

An experienced old Q3 player yet not a single russian knows him, he plays tdmpickup on the first day of registration as his 1st match and does top dmg being 4th pick today. Yes surely telling the truth.

There was indeed a player called Demon from Russia back in 2003:

Someone should know him then? Maybe Frozen? (He knows everyone).

But something fishy: In stream chat (Slowbi's LVL UP), SyncError said he knew who this guy was. Now if it's some not so famous Russian who once participated in an ASUS Cup 10 years ago, how would Sync know him? On the other hand, if he had an alt or previous account, Sync would surely know about it.

p.s. he was not playing his first day yesterday anyway (but that's not what you said tho) :D ezly can be russian who just prefers eu pickups more than ru, (like oi guy), and yea, from what i saw, he wasn't that serious on playing his first pickups, so rating might be misleading a bit (but hey, as well as some ranked players @top50).

Your team played more than anyone else (rehepapp's team was shuffled for second round start).

The average for the whole tournament was 4 maps played by a player.

You should be happy for getting this far and getting a chance to get tired by playing in the grand final! :)

with fakers, newcomers, and other stuff, i dunno what's more fair:
rating bot pick which is done by human's math (which can obviously have leaks too), or less simple, but fair captain selection and random order picking procedure.

anyways: was great fun again ;D almost 100 ppl, not as quick as it wanted to be tho... mb make it saturday thingy. biiig props to #tdmpickup admins for managing this event. cheers!

they could open signups in like hour in a half, and close them in 1 hour, so people (there you could use bot: to define captains as the ppl with highest raiting at qlstats.info) would chose their teams in last 30minutes
or make singups in day before, and whole draft on the next day.

picking is too slow with such a huge amount of people and actually you can't stop people from picking someone as 4th pick and them being the only ones knowing it's noctis faking, etc. I mean it's really not gonna solve anything and gonna even make it worse.

On the other hand making a 25 games requirement would bring both better teams balance and less 3rd/4th picks who are in fact being much better

Maybe in preparation for this draft (after all his account was created right after Draft #2), he played 15 games and got nice low rating. Do you think it's really that hard for him to play 10 more game like this?

OTOH, we had an honest player who played his 10th game just before the tournament, just to get in. So that limit won't stop potential intentional "slummers", but will stop people who visit us rarely.

So far it's a single incident and not a long-term problem, so maybe we don't need those drastic measures just yet?

Yea, theres really no way to avoid this, and if someone really wants to spend over 3 hours playtime to get low rating on purpose then let them :)

Btw, will rating from drafts be calculated into the #tdmpickup? Then he'll not be 4th pick next draft for sure :-)
