this. if unsure, go to the menu and bind something to your home key, see what it says on screen and use that in console. it should end up being kp_home though.

works for me.

Make sure your keyboard doesn't have any special locks on it, like most keyboards have Scroll Lock, Num Lock and Caps Lock, but some keyboards have others such as Function Lock.

Another thing to try is the scan code.

The "home" key should be either 0x8f or 0xc7. So for example:

bind 0x8f "say test"

It should be noted that Quake uses different scan codes than windows, so scan code utilities that you download won't give you the correct value.

Last time I checked QL didn't support the binding of scancodes (besides /bind 0x00, which basically catches every unknown key (like my headset volume controls for example)). It's been a while tho.

Similarly I did bind home "exec test.cfg", also worked.

Also, simply "exec test" works as well as the .cfg extension is assumed.

Like for example, I can do \bind 0x8f [enter]

..and it tells me what 0x8f is bound to.

If I do \bind blahblah it will say something like unknown key.

What about home? If you say bind home does it say unknown key or does it behave normally?

If it does, and you bind something to home, does typing bind 0x8f show what you bound home to?

I assume you can bind other keys yes?

Install that, remap the HOME KEY to something else that you do not use.

Note what you swap around, i.e lets say you mapped F8 over the home key in that or similar software.

Now inside quake do

bind F8 "command"

Except cos we fooled it quake finks its F8, but its really home.

The genius gets from A to D without having to do the B and C.

direct from my config:

And you don't have a autoexec.cfg at all?

has the keybord got a driver other than those from microsoft, I guess you're on windows?
