I never pirated an id game, and I was running all of my Q3 servers with sv_strictauth 1 as well.
I remember there was a Q4 bypass indeed, but iirc it stopped working aroundr 1.4.?.... but since I was never really into Q4, I'm not sure:)

Don't bother trying the game is probably the deadest one of the whole Quake-Franchise. Play some CPMA instead, there you at least can get some matches rellatively fast.
