The online Quakelive Duel tournament of the ASUS Cup 2011 Final Battle Of The Year will be played on Saturday 17th December. Last Thursday, the 2nd qualifier saw 4 more players added to the list and the groups have been released right away! The maplist for the event consists of Aerowalk, Blood Run, Furious Heights, Lost World & Toxicity and the prize money of 10 000 rubles.

This competition is replacing the ASUS Fall 2011 (4th cup of the ASUS series for 2011) considering the delays in its organization. Note that the ASUS Winter is still planned for February.

Nothing wrong with that, but the difference is that k1llsen just joins empty server and waits for _any_ opponent and everyone wants to play vs a "pro". On the other hand, I don't think it goes the same for ash + never seen him on non RU/UA servers. Apparently he plays only vs Russians (his choice).

He reminds me of Nike who was super good a time but got completely destroyed once he faced other styles in a LAN tournament ;]. Nonetheless he played extremely well against Cypher, props to him and his rail ;]

Ash pings best to RU servers with ~50 ping. I guess that's the main reason why he's playing on those servers. Also, he basically does same as k1llsen, in addition he plays much vs his old quake buddies (afaik, most of them live in his town).

Ye, it's a pity he lives so far and is unable to compete to his full potential without being handicaped with high ping. Some time ago Cooller said ash is russian rapha, when he was asked who he had seen as rising stars in ql from cis countries.

How many Russians have been talked up and then failed to show anything when they finally came to LAN?

I have been hearing it for years about how agent, pavel, evil, amai, bodzo, alfaomega, blah blah blah is going to tear up at LAN and they never have.

I'm sorry but until Russians venture outside of the Soviet Union then they have not proven anything and will remain scrubs.
