Blast Radius was a Dreamcast map - dc_map23. It distinguished itself from others from having a complex, curved layout and a small size - making it great for 2v2 CTF. (Of which QL desperately needs more maps of it`s kind)

Reflux is something I`ve never heard of. Probably a QL exclusive. Brand-new maps are always welcome imo - but no one else likes them because they`re dm6 lamers who are too uncomfortable to step outside their favored hunting grounds.

There`s a RA3 map called Reflux? hmm... I`ll need to check :)

Checked: Didn`t find anything. Closest thing as far as name goes is a DA called "Remix" from ra3map20, and as far as I can tell it looks pretty mediocre being so horizontal and all. But who knows.

I just think it would be a great addition, since lots of CTF players would want it there. Just because I don't play it myself, doesn't mean I don't understand the beneficial part it could give to QL.

I still can't understand why we (we==community) can't make a similar ones with using id assets only, and give all the rights to id?.
If 3w starts bitching about it, id lawyers could tell that all the players played wcp9 (or the others) for 10+ years, and because it was missing from QL they made something similar for themselves by heavily modifying Base Siege (or whatever, all CTF maps are just items, two flags and some routes on a symmetric layout anyway:), It's just a decade of inspiration in the making:D).

We could make wcp9, 14 and 18, etc...so all the - proven to be great - public maps, and the p9 clone could be used for tourneys as well.

I had that suggestion for fallout bunker. Take the mid area and widen it and for the closed off upper level, replace it with walkways via spider crossings. Sync sounded interested at the time, that was back in late 2010 though.

I had about a zillion ideas like that, but unfortunately, they had no resources to make custom maps happen:(

I had one with streaming only the bsp directly into the memory of the clients to avoid legal problems.. and many other ideas... but it's all useless if Sync don't have money and manpower to do such things.

Actually, from a practical point of view, popular maps like q3wcp9 are still massively played in Q3 to this day. It might actually have little benefit to port them over to QL, since they`re still played so much in Q3.

I think we should focus more on getting underappreciated, overlooked arenas into the game so they can get some "spotlight" status. It actually makes more sense to me and personally I think it would be horrible if people kept callvoting q3wcp9 over and over again if I want to play something different. (underlined, italicized, and bolded for emphasis)

Besides, look at the maps from the Maverick competition. If you think maps like Fluorescent, Penumbra, or Windsong Keep are terrible and shouldn`t be played or be in QL, your standards are way too high, because that`s about as good as you can get there.

i like it, Could cause mayhem with large #'s of players. If they added mines and multiple levels (maybe 3 stacked high). 1 player could guard each entryway, with another at the flag and 1 runner.

Those are the kinds of maps (the ones where you are forced to take a position and notify your teammates if someone got through - aliens 3 like) that create teamwork. Teamwork which is highly lacking in any teamgame on a public level right now. If noobs learned to work together, more will eventually sign up for tournaments.

Id has really done a bad job picking these kinds of maps and have opted instead, for large open arenas or those with multiple tight corridors that create 5 individuals playing on a team instead.

Gaze of the Abyss would be cool. Perhaps not really a "competitive" arena, but it has a novel layout and construction and is really fun for tight games without RG. :)

People keep asking for q3wcp9, id cant just go add maps they need to be able to contact the mapper and make a deal with them, if you want it in ql so badly maybe you should contact the mapper :P
